It's comparable to a youth hostel in terms of facilities. The rooms are basic, but clean and functional, with shared cooking facilities. Breakfast was okay, but not great, in a somewhat austere dining room. It's a Catholic church, after all. The price was reasonable, the staff very friendly, but the location is fabulous. It's on the NE side of Salzburg,... More

Friendly desk staff communicated with us prior to our visit and welcomed us on our arrival. Rooms were basic (institutional). The facility also accommodates university students, so think dorm-like, but clean and quiet. There is no daily maid service, except that our trash was emptied. Our group had two rooms and neither was supplied with soap, so I assume that... More

ISS is very institutional which reminded me of being back in school. It is a great value for the location. Everything is within walking distance whether the grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, Mirabell gardens or the old town. The have little lockers in the fridge so ask for a key if you plan to store anything there. They provide utensils, pots... More

This hostel is my least favorite of my Europe trip. The hostel itself is pleasant. It's small and quiet, the breakfast is nice, and the accommodations are cozy but comfortable. However, the desk attendant here was utterly unhelpful for any questions we had as tourists, and worst of all seemed totally uninterested in helping us. The hostel also has a... More

Stayed here 2 nights in a double and we agree with other reviews. One thing to add: Its a bit tricky to find this place the first time. Main entry/front desk is on a walkway that intersects the Linzer-Gasse west of the St. Sebastian church, rather than on the Linzer-Gasse itself. The walkway connects with the Paris-Lodron Strasse to the... More

The Institut is actually a student guest house with some rooms for visitors and is located on a pedestrian street with plenty of restaurants (open until late at night certain evenings) and a couple of grocery stores (Spar & Billa). It is a mere 5-minute walk to either the historical center or the Mirabel gardens. From the train station, it... More

Budget travelers have to make sacrifices and Institut St. Sebastian is a perfect example. The location is great. 5-10 minute walk to old town. The street outside has a number of food and shopping options. It is currently under construction which is loud in the morning. Others also mentioned the church bells ring every fifteen minutes starting at 6am. There... More

I stayed 3 nights in this very clean but not very quiet accommodation. I arrived with an injury, and the night staff went home after their shift and brought me back their own ice pack, which they or others would put into the freezer and retrieve for me - this was very much appreciated, being on my own. They also... More

Rooms in this school are available during the summer months. It is a residence for students during the rest of the year. The rooms are quite serviceable; the breakfast is good; the staff in the office are very helpful. Be aware that the washer/dryer service takes a long while. We stumbled into the St Rupert's Festival, which crowded the Old... More
