We loved the Alstadhotel Kaserbrau. The staff are all very friendly and make you feel right at home from the time you walk in the door. This is a beautiful old hotel situated just below the gorgeous white Hohensalzburg Castle. We stayed in a very comfortable suite which was tastefully decorated to fit with the style of the hotel. Breakfast... More

Arrived at this hotel after staying in Vienna. Upon arrIval was greeted by non smiling staff exception of one, who was lovely. Given room that had a bed that Heidi would have loved as a child! Went downstairs asked for another room, was given a large double room with comfy bed and white linen for extra euros per night. After... More

If you want a traditional hotel in a good location for a fair price with breakfast, this is a good choice. The rooms match the area, however the bathroom has been nicely updated. There is a small parking lot right around the corner from the hotel. Wifi is free but only available in the lobby. We loved Salzburg and the... More

How this hotel has a four star rating is a mystery since it is three star at best and in many respects two star. From the outset the man serving on reception was chaotic ,rude and unhelpful . We planned to stay three nights but checked out after one and on checkout were told that the receptionist was simply filling... More

I was given a very small typical Mozart-like room at this hotel.I guess no one knew either I was six foot tall or a midget...but there are rules concerning the square meters attributed to a standard 3 stars or more European hotel and, according to them, you will have to pay a higher price. Apart from this, breakfast is great,... More

This hotel is in a fantastic location--right in the heart of the city so it makes it very easy to walk to any of the sites or just wander about taking it all in. The property is also charming-classic "old world" European property! Room was spacious and the bathroom had been recently updated. The bathroom was also very spacious, considering... More

We stayed three days at this hotel. The hotel has a perfect location, right at the beginning of the tourist area making it a short walk to everything but away from crowds. It is a short ride from the train station (bus # 3, stop Mozartsteg). As for the hotel itself, it is a traditional European hotel that has not... More

More like a 3 star that lives off its great location. The rooms are spartan (there is no minibar, no safe, no airconditioning), the beds are tiny, the mattresses thin and the bathrooms have these annoying shampoo/soap dispensers that are screwed to the wall. In other words, it is functional - but nothing else. My husband and I came on... More

We absolutely loved our large "loft"-style bedroom for four -- from the added space for relaxing at night to the morning/skylight view of the Fortress above. Decor was a bit kitschy-alpine-y, but it just made it feel more homey. (Interesting contrast with ultra-modern lobby.) As other reviewers mentioned, great location for walking throughout the "old town" near the cathedral and... More

We were booked in as a Superior Room, but when we checked in we were given the keys to a very average room with very tired furnishings. I immediately went back to reception and we were given another room which was much more modern with a fantastic bathroom (it was well worth complaining, since we did pay for a superior... More
