We just spent one night here so it's hard to give a thorough and fair appraisal. Location has got to be one of the best anywhere in the world. We were in heaven on arrival, sitting out in the sun on one of the beautiful terraces overlooking the city and enjoying complimentary refreshments. Our room was spacious and lovely but... More

This is where Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise stayed whilst filming some or other movie. They obviously like their privacy as this hotel is away from the bustling crowds. It is a 12 minute walk through the forest to an elevator that takes you down into the heart of Salzburg town. The rooms are small, it is Europe after all... More

One of the best Hotels we have ever stayed in. On the top of a mountain overlooking Salzburg, and we were treated like Royalty. Service, food, rooms, views all exceptional. Even a welcoming glass of champagne on arrival! Have stayed before and will stay again.

Lovely location on the top of the hill overlooking Salzburg's old town. It's a 15 minute taxi journey from the central station, but so easy to get into the centre. They hotel gives you free access to the lift at the modern art museum (5 minutes walk away) that takes you right into the centre of old Salzburg. Its more... More

I took my girlfriend on a surprise trip to this little piece of alpine heaven. Perched high on the mountain top over looking the town of Salzburg the hotel offers outstanding views over the mountain range. Taken by Mercedes limousine from the airport up through the new part of town and up the winding road to the hotel (Limousine priced... More

My family and I stayed in this beautifull castle hotel on our amazing trip to Austria and Bavaria. The position of the hotel, in the woods on a cliff top overlooking the beautifull city of Salzburg is second to none. A short walk through the woods to the museum lift brings you right in to the heart of this fairytail... More

I cannot say enough about this hotel. After a surprise engagement in Austria, my fiance and I treated ourselves by booking a room in the hotel and driving up to Salzburg for the night. From the moment we arrived we had such a fabulous experience. This is NOT the stuck up, pretentious hotels you often encounter with a 5 star... More

Wow. This is truly a pinch-me place. The taxi climbed up and up on a windy road to the top of Monchsberg Mountain, through iron gates, across pea gravel, into a peaceful garden laden with flowers and up to the gorgeous colorful castle that would be our home for 2 nights. If only it had been longer. The staff upgraded... More

No complaints here. just a perfect stay in a perfect hotel. Anyone who complains is not an experienced traveller. Rooms are a little smaller than usual but the hotel makes up for that in every other way.Fantastic room service and food.

We booked this hotel based on the other reviews on Trip Advisor. It is expensive, but also worth it. We stayed at other fantastic hotels on our trip (honeymoon), but Hotel Monchstein stood out on its own. The hotel itself is as striking and fairy tale as the photos suggest. It is perched on a cliff above Salzburg, but is... More
