My girlfriend and I stayed two nights and enjoyed the warm hospitality, quiet neighborhood, clean and comfortable room, and nourishing breakfast with fresh breads, cheeses and homemade jam. Having grown up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin it was also very interesting to see their dairy cattle and farm operation located right behind the house where we stayed on the outskirts of Salzburg. The bus stop in to city centre and back stopped virtually right out in front and was an easy 15 minute ride. This was a return visit for myself as I had fond memories of staying here thirteen years ago. Thank you again Helga..... I hope to see you again on future return visit to Salzburg!

My son and I had a very pleasant stay with Frau Bankhammer. The room was comfortable, the bathroom (down the hall, but only for us) was large and modern, and breakfast was a nice spread of cereal, breads, meats, and cheese. Helga was very nice, and she was very helpful with information for dining and getting into the city. The guesthouse is part of a real working farm and there are horses and cows on the property, and we had a nice time walking around the animals each night. As it is a bit outside of town, it is necessary to take the bus to get to the tourist areas. That is a very easy process, however, and very much worth it when considering the pleasant environment in the country and the money saved over staying in the old town. One major issue I had with our stay, however, was the noise from the street. In the morning starting around 6AM, there is steady traffic on the road out front, and as the windows need to be open to allow for air flow in the summer, it gets VERY loud in the room. Busses, trucks, motorcycles, and cars can all be heard very clearly, and it is really hard to sleep with all the racket. This issue, while significant, isn't enough for me to not recommend this guesthouse, but it is important to be aware of. It's probably not a big deal when the weather is cool, but in the summer it's a problem.

We stayed in Pension Bankhammer 4 days. It is very clean! The double room is well appointed with the wonderfully comfortable bed and warm "decke" (it became quite cold one night). There are chests of drawers and a large wardrobe to stow all belongings and a small table and 2 chairs. The bathroom is very large! The shower has lots of hot water with good pressure. There is a chair here also. Frau Bankhammer serves a lovely breakfast with orange juice, your choice of hot drink (coffee, tea (herbal or black)) delicious farm bread and rolls in a basket along with sliced cheese and meats. On the side board is a selection of cereals, milk, juice and yoghurt to serve yourself. The portions are generous, we never left the table wishing there was something more! The pension is very close to bus 21 stop. The city center is 15 minutes away. There are 2 excellent restaurants nearby (5 minutes) accessible by the bus. Frau Bankhammer was so kind and helpful to us. She was able to recommend different venues for entertainment. She speaks excellent English! The other guests during our stay were from Chech Republic and Italy. Everyone communicated in English. We would come and stay again!

This was my favorite part of Salzburg -- staying in a darling farm house, on a real dairy farm! The hostess Helga was super nice and accommodating, with excellent communication before my stay. It's a wonderful escape from the hustle & bustle of city life, but a quick & easy bus ride straight into town. In fact, taking the bus was a delight too! My room had a nice big window that looked out to a mountain, and the bathroom was immaculate and enormous! The breakfasts were a treat. Make sure you go out back to see the dairy cows (and 2 day old baby cow, when I was there!) and the pasture. Next door is an interesting, old village church and cemetery that's worth a look. Across the street is the American International School and a bike shop.

We traveled Bavaria with another couple last week and found this little Zimmer rental on the Moosstrasse just outside of town. There are 4 clean rooms with 2 shared baths. What makes this great is Helga, the owner proprietor. She speaks English well and has a very warm and friendly personality. She was great at helping us understand the bus system and sights to see. She was willing to do our laundry for 7 euro a load which was a big help. Breakfast was nice and it's an active dairy farm. A little calf was born the day we were there which she gladly showed us. It is very inexpensive for the area and super comfortable. Easy to get to town by bus or we even walked it a couple of times. If I were going again, I would stay there again. Thanks Helga! Not really for those looking for fancy, but warm and personal for sure.

Helga, Helga, Helga... you truly make this place a joy to stay at. Her warm and friendly spirit made the visit most pleasant. She was very helpful in accessing bus information. Her breakfasts were so delicious and the quality was great. She even held our little 9 month old boy, as he was getting anxious, and toured him around the house. Her rooms were large and so were the bathrooms across the hall. I should mention they were private to our room which was nice. The bus stop is right in front of her house and is an easy 10 minute ride to the downtown area in Salzburg. Very cheap and handy. Make sure to go out and look at her dairy. The calves were very cute.

The people here are wonderfully nice and accommodating. English is spoken. it's very peaceful and pretty. Of course, this is outside of Salzburg. However, the money you save makes a short bus ride totally worthwhile. The bus stops right in front of the house, and takes you all the way into town.

My husband and I stayed with our nine year old son for one night with Frau Bankhammer at the end of March 2013. We had a very pleasant stay, and if our travels ever take us back to Salzburg, we will definitely visit her again. Booking was very easy and prompt through email. We arrived early due to a last minute change of plans due to poor weather, and we were promptly greeted by Frau Bankhammer's son who showed us our room. They have tourist information available in house and were ready to answer any questions we had about the area. The location is easy to find and a quick car ride up/from/to the street from the Center of Salzburg. We were traveling by rental car, but there is a bus stop literally right outside the fence of the house that takes you to town. The house, our room, and the bathroom were spotless. Fresh towels and nigh trobes were available. We were the only guests at the time, but even so the location is quiet and we had a good night's sleep. In the morning, Frau Bankammer provides a good-sized, traditional breakfast with fresh milk, butter, and yogurt from her dairy farm, and delicious fresh jams that she makes herself. (Bread, coffee, cereals, meats, and cheeses also included.) We do a fair amount of traveling and are sort of finicky about where we stay. A great stay!

I haven't stayed here since last August, but I feel compelled to write a review about our wonderful accommodations. First of all, staying at a farm house is a really fun experience, you can see cows and draft horses just behind the house! The rooms are big, and their didn't seem to be anyone else staying their while we were there, so absolutely no noise and total privacy, except for Helga and her daughter occasionally checking on us. But what I can't compliment enough was how helpful and kind Helga was to us! What an absolutely sweet lady! We had many great conversations with her, and you could tell she enjoyed us staying with her. Also we were supposed to leave early in the morning our last day, and informed her that we wouldn't be needing breakfast, but I woke up sick that day so we missed our train. Not only did she tell my sister exactly what medicine to get me down at the pharmacy to make me feel better, but she immediately prepared my sister and I a large breakfast and made FOR SURE that I was feeling completely better before we departed. I wish I could thank her more, because it was so helpful and without her I would have been sick for much longer. So overall great experience! Would recommend to anyone

We emailed Helga a couple of weeks before and confirmed our reservation, even giving her a credit card number. We explained that we have a baby and that we would be driving to Salzbourg, and it was apparently all ok. On the day that we were to reach, we took a few wrong turns with the car, which set us back about an hour, and there was a long stretch of construction from Vienna to Salzbourg, which set us back another hour. So, like good guests we called ahead and informed, and guess what? She informed us that no, she has a social commitment, and our booking is now cancelled. She will only come back at 10 or so in the night. We asked if we could pick up the keys from where she was, or a friend or a neighbour, but that was not fine. We asked her to call us when she gets back, but she says airily that we'll find another place, and she wont hold us to our reservation, and that SHE understands that we dont want to stay at her place anymore!!! After that, no help/information etc. She does not even pick up the phone! I dont know how good the place was, but best avoided if the proprietor obviously does not care about reservations!
