My wife and I spent 2 days (one night) at the Alderhof in mid November. We stayed in a room with Austrian decor, was great! Very good buffet breakfast (included). Staff very helpful, Hotel-Pension just a few blocks away from train station. Short walk to center of town (about 15 minutes). Bus service is also close by.

To get to old town Salzburg, take a pleasant 20 min walk, public transportation, or free bicycle provided by hotel. The hotel is older, has European charm, well maintained, clean, and very comfortable.
