We enjoyed Sanger Blondel very much! It was a quaint hotel in a tiny town. We had a great room (one of the larger ones) with a view of the courtyard. Trees and bushes were covering the windows but gave good privacy to the diners outside. The owners were very accomodating and obviously very proud of their establishment. The restaurant... More

We stayed one night and found this to be a very comfortable place to stay in this picturesque historic town. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was excellent and it was a real pleasure to eat outside in the secluded garden. We would definitely hope to stay here again.

We had a wonderful 2 nights at this lovely family-run hotel in Apr 2011. Actually, B&B or inn would be a more appropriate title, as there isn't a proper reception area and as other reviewers have mentioned, your hosts are not available at all times of the day. Strongly advisable to notify the property in advance your arrival time so... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We arrived in the early afternoon and we rang the doorbell as requested by the innkeepers. No one answered. Finally we got in thanks to a guest who had a key. The Sanger Blondel is in a fantastic location and Durnstein is picture perfect. Our room was very clean but very... More

We had a lovely stay at Sanger Blondel mid-May. The room was spotless and offered a peak out to the Danube from our garden room. It is well situated amid a quaint town which was a joy to visit, so relaxing. An ample breakfast included in our room rate had all we needed to get us a great start to... More

Sanger Blondel combines the anonymity of a hotel with the hominess of a B&B beautifully. We never felt like we were staying in someone's spare room and were intruding on the lives of those who live there which is what I do not like about small bed & breakfasts. Sanger Blondel is big enough to feel like a hotel, but... More

Stayed here during last week of October. Hotel was centrally located in Durnstein and an easy 7-8 minute walk from the station. This is a lovely time of year in the Wachau with the vineyards displaying the autumn colours - the landscape is a cross between Machu Picchu and New England! This hotel is a proper Austrian guest house with... More

Our reservation in a neighboring town turned out to be in a hotel that was disappointing. We returned to Dürnstein where I had visited but never spent the night. We found this ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL hotel with a spacious double room and a restaurant with delicious food. The owners were very accommodating, even helping us navigate our way at the conclusion... We stayed here for only 1 night in August as we traveled from Vienna to Salzburg for a 2 week trip. We had room 11, which was a 2 room suite. The furnishings were plain and simple, but the room was large and had 2 bathrooms. The view off the deck was of the church and the castle ruins...quite incrediable.... More

We have traveled a lot through the world and would have to say that this is without doubt one of the best places we have ever stayed. The friendliness, kindness and efficiency of the Schendl family and the hotel staff is truely inspiring. This type of service comes from many years of experience and caring, not the result of a...
