Dürnstein, the jewel of the Wachau Valley, and although we we had spent 2 nights there in 2011, what a surprise on our visit in June this year! Wherever one is or looks, this small old town is exceptionally beautiful; however we knew that already. The surprise is, that there is so much to do in and around Dürnstein. For... More

This hotel has been in the same family for about 300 years, and it is obvious that it is run with a lot of care for the guests and well as the property. The rooms were not ornate by any stretch of the imagination, but they were comfortable and very clean. We had driven to Durstein from Passau, with stops... More

Genuinely welcoming. We had walked over the hills to arrive and were offered a glass of water at check in. We were given a choice of bath or shower, chose the bath and were very pleased with our room and facilities. We dined in the hotel, half board, and were able to choose from the a la carte menu. The... More

Durnstein is a story-book town overlooked by a castle and surrounded by the Danube and vinyards which are nice to walk or bike through. Saenger Blondel is a lovely guesthouse family run and owned. It's very well-located with a nice patio for dinner and breakfast. We had a great view of the castle from our room (#19) I wish we... More

We loved the town of Durnstein and found this a great hotel. The service was a bit more formal than some other places we stayed, but was still friendly. The courtyard was beautifully landscaped and was a lovely spot for dinner and breakfast. We were there during apricot season and loved all the fresh fruit! Our room was spacious with... More

I stayed at Hotel Saenger Blondel for three nights and slept in the second floor corner room. From my window, I saw the castle ruins and central Durnstein. The hotel is in the middle of the village and convenient to everything. The Schendl's were very helpful even before I arrived, providing tips on train and bus options for my travel... More

We stayed in Durnstein for one night after a short cruise from Melk. It's a charming, sleepy little town and the Saenger Blondel was just lovely. This was a nice, gentle, relaxing stop between our stay in larger centres, such as Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg. We enjoyed our cozy, clean room and a traditional dinner with an entertainer on the... More

Stayed only one night as part of a walking trip in the Wachau Valley, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome from Frau Schendl was very warm , helpful and friendly. The family have run the hotel/restaurant for generations and the experience shows. Whilst the building is old our room was bright clean and completely updated and most comfortable and... More
