We didn't stay at the hotel but stopped by at the outdoor cafe for lunch on a day when we were visiting Durnstein so this review is about the cafe and not about the hotel itself. It was that time of the year when the gardens were in full bloom and it's difficult to describe just out beautiful the outdoor... More

I cycled solo along the Danube with no prior reservation for accommodations. When I reached Durnstein and decided to stay for 2 nights to absorb in the charming scenery, I checked out both Hotel Schloss Duernstein and Hotel Richard Loewenherz. As I lost my iphone 6 charging cable along the way, I requested both hotels to check if they have... More

I had an excellent experience at this hotel. Stayed here for 1 night stay while driving through Wachau Valley. The hotel is clean and comfortable. I stayed at the balcony suite room which was spacious and had a wonderful view of the ruins and the town's church steeple. This is probably the best room in the hotel and I highly... More

A friendly family run and very pleasant hotel. A warm welcome on arrival, a charming garden to eat in....good food......nothing too much trouble. Be aware though that the garden and public rooms of the hotel are shut on Sunday's and Monday's except for breakfast. Highly recommended.

We recently stayed at Sanger Blondel and were impressed by our wonderfully spacious room and the amazing views . In addition the staff were very helpful and gave us some great advice. Durnstein has a lot to offer with walks , bike riding and boat trips on the Danube.

Dürnstein, the jewel of the Wachau Valley, and although we we had spent 2 nights there in 2011, what a surprise on our visit in June this year! Wherever one is or looks, this small old town is exceptionally beautiful; however we knew that already. The surprise is, that there is so much to do in and around Dürnstein. For... More

This hotel has been in the same family for about 300 years, and it is obvious that it is run with a lot of care for the guests and well as the property. The rooms were not ornate by any stretch of the imagination, but they were comfortable and very clean. We had driven to Durstein from Passau, with stops... More

Genuinely welcoming. We had walked over the hills to arrive and were offered a glass of water at check in. We were given a choice of bath or shower, chose the bath and were very pleased with our room and facilities. We dined in the hotel, half board, and were able to choose from the a la carte menu. The... More

Durnstein is a story-book town overlooked by a castle and surrounded by the Danube and vinyards which are nice to walk or bike through. Saenger Blondel is a lovely guesthouse family run and owned. It's very well-located with a nice patio for dinner and breakfast. We had a great view of the castle from our room (#19) I wish we... More

We loved the town of Durnstein and found this a great hotel. The service was a bit more formal than some other places we stayed, but was still friendly. The courtyard was beautifully landscaped and was a lovely spot for dinner and breakfast. We were there during apricot season and loved all the fresh fruit! Our room was spacious with... More
