Durnstein is a story-book town overlooked by a castle and surrounded by the Danube and vinyards which are nice to walk or bike through. Saenger Blondel is a lovely guesthouse family run and owned. It's very well-located with a nice patio for dinner and breakfast. We had a great view of the castle from our room (#19) I wish we... More

We loved the town of Durnstein and found this a great hotel. The service was a bit more formal than some other places we stayed, but was still friendly. The courtyard was beautifully landscaped and was a lovely spot for dinner and breakfast. We were there during apricot season and loved all the fresh fruit! Our room was spacious with... More

I stayed at Hotel Saenger Blondel for three nights and slept in the second floor corner room. From my window, I saw the castle ruins and central Durnstein. The hotel is in the middle of the village and convenient to everything. The Schendl's were very helpful even before I arrived, providing tips on train and bus options for my travel... More

We stayed in Durnstein for one night after a short cruise from Melk. It's a charming, sleepy little town and the Saenger Blondel was just lovely. This was a nice, gentle, relaxing stop between our stay in larger centres, such as Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg. We enjoyed our cozy, clean room and a traditional dinner with an entertainer on the... More

Stayed only one night as part of a walking trip in the Wachau Valley, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome from Frau Schendl was very warm , helpful and friendly. The family have run the hotel/restaurant for generations and the experience shows. Whilst the building is old our room was bright clean and completely updated and most comfortable and... More

There are two other "fanicer" hotels in Durnstein but at two to three times the cost of this one. Clean, modern rooms and facilities in a beautiful old building. It is family owned and run and they go out of their way to help you on your stay. A more than adequate breakfast is included. Our only regret was that... More

Durnstein(and the Hotel Sanger Blondel)was our third stop of four on a 2 week anniversary trip to Switzerland and Austria. We only spent one day and night, but it was so magical! We received a very warm welcome on arrival from Herr Schendl who allowed us to park our rental car in the one small space out front and helped... More

This place is loaded with charm, a place where the owners greeted us warmly upon our arrival. This hotel has been in the Schendl family for 300 years; they really do know the secret for top-notch service. Durnstein itself is a charming village surrounded by vineyards, and on the banks of the Danube, in the gorgeous Wachau Valley. It is... More
