Our stay at Hotel Schloss Durnstein couldn't have been better! The hotel is ideally located on the main walking street and convenient to all the points of interest in the town. Our room AND bathroom were lovely, as was the view of the Danube and church steeple! For dinner we reserved a table on the terrace where we enjoyed a... More

The Schloss stands proudly on a promontory overlooking the Danube and above the pretty as a picture village of Durnstein. The exterior of the castle built in 1630 is handsome and pristine, undoubtedly a very desirable setting. Within, there are some beautiful communal parts but sadly the décor in many areas, bedrooms included, is old fashioned and uninspiring. Bad weather... More

This is just a review of the restaurant of the hotel Schloss Dürnstein: to cut it short - it was an excellent lunch, overlooking the Danube river from a shady place. Very good service and creative food compositions. To be recommended, also for sunset dinners.

I did a bike tour with Trek and this is one of the hotels that we stayed at. It's a must do while in Austria. My view from my window was the Danube what a nice view every morning and evening. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. Really good experience and the view from the patio... More

We visited this romantic hotel in August. We were surprised how close it is to Vienna and to Melk. It is in the beautiful Wachau valley. It is possible to have the dinner but also the breakfast at the terrace with a truly spectacular view over Danube and the valley. The food is excellent. We used the outdoor swimming pool... More

Duernstein is one of the most picturesque villages in the Wachau Valley and the hotel is prominently perched on a promontory above the Danube. Sitting on the terrace provides a visual feast. The receptionists are helpful but a bit assertive which goes for many of the service staff. The kitchen produces solid results without creativity. The breakfast selection is excellent.... More

This was our second stay there. We had a very nice room overlooking the Danube. What a lovely place! we enjoyed wonderful weather, swam in the outdoor pool and took nice hikes. We had breakfast and dinner on the terrace which is spectacular, looking down on the river watching the boats go by. Food was very good as well.

Very pleasant hotel and location. Great breakfast.Free bikes for a great ride in the beautiful surroundings. Nice pool. However the ambiance on the terrace where dinner was served was disappointing. A wonderful view on the Danube river, but everything else is in desperate need of a new look. The food was ok , but not up to the the standard... More

I visited this hotel in July 2014. The hotel is in the most incredible location - perched high over the river with amazing views from the terrace restaurant. Was here on 2 very hot and sunny days and it could not have been better. It is also right on the main road through the town so very easy to visit... More

We spent a prolonged weekend (4 nights) in this wonderfully located hotel above the Danube. The setting is superb and the staff in general very friendly. However, the long standing owner family should really reflect on the future of the hotel. Today it is a good hotel, but not worth 5 stars (as rated). The rooms are dated. Parts of... More
