We had 5 nights here, the first was in one of the older styled rooms which was clean and cosy. The rest of the stay we were placed in a newly refurbished room which was just lovely. We did not have a view of the harbour and maybe next time we would ask, as we would definatly stay again. The views... more
We left the British hotel with only one regret - we would have liked to stay another week. I had a particular reason for visiting Malta, my father had served in the Fleet Air Arm and RAF there both before and during WW2, so it was the sense of history that appealed. From the superb view of Grand Harbour (you... more
Having served in the RAF in Malta 1965-67, and returned in 1984, Gozo 1991 and Rabat 1992. My wife and I wanted to make a nostalgic visit back to the Island which to us is a second home. Not as Tourists, With this in mind we looked on the Net and selected two Hotels, one in Rabat and The British... more
The British Hotel has a fantastic location - but otherwise it is very marginal. The rooms we got the first night were advertised as having a view of the harbour - 5th floor. My sister and I have just returned from a short stay in Malta . The proprieter of the British Hotel, from the start, before we even left England, went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. The British Hotel is a grand old dame overlooking the harbour in Valetta, clean and basic and ouzing with old world charm.... more

What I liked about it was the feel, high ceilings, old floor tiles (based on knights crosses), and the fantastic view from the terrace. Our OK sized room with en suite looked out on the street behind the hotel. So we missed the view but... more
Just returned from the British hotel in Valletta ..... Well it was an experiance I must say the staff are Very friendly and always have time for a chat. The room I had was small and basic with clean bedding every couple of days and clean towels every day but as a single traveller I dont need much else as... more
After 3 nights at Hotel Valentina in St Julian's Bay, I decided I'd move to Valletta for my final night and chose the British Hotel based on the rather glowing review in my Rough Guide travel book. I'm truly stunned by how wrong they got it! I arrived at the hotel without a booking and was happy with the service... more
The British Hotel is right on the waterfront of the Grand Harbour in old Valletta. Night or day there are ships moving by. The views from the hotel's rooftop terraces of the fortifications and churches and other great architecture are beautiful. Every morning at eight we were awakened by the bells from four different churches. Each one was a little... more
