The Diplomat is an average, in my opinion, 3 star hotel. Stayed 1 week end of February. The positives are, very friendly waiters, room maids who cannot do enough for you, comfortable mattresses (for my taste of course), spacious bedrooms. Negatives are as follows; very little public spaces, such as a quiet lounge with comfy chairs, the so called side... More

Just back from Diplomat, This hotel is good value for money, we stayed B&B and the Breakfast was good everything there you could ask for (one lady who seemed to be looking to complain said there was no porridge) I must commend on the waitress at Breakfast she was great couldn't do enough for you, also the receptionists and bar... February 2015..all of hotel was open with mixed occupants, from all over the world and Saga pensioners from the UK.One lady was on her 3rd Month.Good value for its prices you can see why you would stay for so long rather than heat your home and shop in the UK. standard bedrooms you would find anywhere kept clean but looking for... This was our first experience of a holiday with Saga, which we hope will never be repeated. The Rep at the airport never spoke to us and left us with the minibus driver to take us on to the Hotel. We were not expected. No Rep to welcome us and no porter to move our cases. Our dinner was cold... More

The Diplomat Hotel is in a great location and judging by what else we saw in Malta in probably the best resort. The Hotel is midway between St.Julians Bay and the Sliema "ferries" both of which have many good restaurants (some poor) and bars. OK the Hotel is a bit dated but for the price it is hard to find... i flew to Malta and chose the 'Diplomat' hotel upon recommendation , and I was far from disappointed. Throughout my brief 5 day stay , I was made to feel extremely welcome and soon regarded the hotel as'home from home' so to speak. Most of the staff were polite , friendly , courteous , efficient and professional at all times... More

I had a lovely time at this hotel as a solo senior traveller. very clean, good food and service. good cheap bus service and right on the promenade. great for bus routes also. Close to Sliema s water front and great shopping centre. historical enthusiasts will love Malta who,s history dates back to BC. A visit to Valletta is a... More

I'm not sure where all these reviews are coming from, if I'm honest...! Positives: large rooms, so plenty space for suitcases etc and you get a table and a couple of chairs, even in the triple we had. Good position in relation to distance to centre of Sliema and Saint Julian's - both within walking distance, although the latter is... More

The hotel was just Fab. It could not have been better placed for both St Julians Bay and Sliema. The breakfast food was great, and whilst we only had 1 evening meal, it was really nice.I would recommend this hotel in general. we had a great time.
