I travel and stay in 4 to 5 star hotels all over the northern hemisphere and with (too much) regularity. When I choose a hotel for relaxation I want it to be like "home". At home you have everything to hand that you want or need. With the Calypso, what you may need is never out of reach. Genuinely helpful... more

I travelled with my friend, for both of us it was our first visit to Gozo. What a lovely place. Great walks, lovely weather, dive sites were beautiful - but a challange to get to at times! The hotel Calypso was just the icing on the cake for us. The reception, the waiters, the bar staff, the room girls were... more

We booked our own flights and then booked the Calypso for 12 nights half board with a seaview room. We thought we had got a good deal( for out of season) through Malta Direct). The hotel arranged our transfers and after the ferry trip we arrived around 10pm. We did not have a comfortable first night (or second) as the... more

I could bore you with another account of The Calypso's: - wonderful habour /bayside position, delightful friendly staff, superb freshly cooked dinners and sumptuous breakfast buffet, good quality linens and furnishings - but you'll have read it all before. Instead a true account of dinner in late November. This was our 9th week there in the past two years but... more

"The hotel is welcoming - even at 0450!! - and the staff helpful and caring. The sea view rooms are worth the supplement, as are the bay view rooms. The breakfast is excellent and the chioices good - beware the removal of plates and cutlery should you leave your table to fill up, though!! However, replacements are always available. Tyhe... more

Positives - Food in the hotel was by far the best we had in Gozo and worth mentioning - we had dinner a couple of times and it was nice and worth the upgrade to HB. Breakfast was particularly good (although a couple of points for improvement would be ensuring glasses are clean and the waiters/waitresses allowing you to finish... more

Bearing in mind it was the end of the season and the staff were all proberly exhausted. This is my honest opinion. We had a seaview room on the fourth floor. The view was marvellous of Marsalform. The room was small the bed was two singles attached together. The mattresses were thin, uncomfortable and very old and shabby, but covered... more

Summary of experience: -A sea view room is a must, but we we're on the 5th floor and roof noise can disturb (especially in the morning when it sounds like they're moving beer barrels) -Food and restaurant staff are excellent, especially Joe the head waiter -Swimming pool is very small. Generally not a problem, unless you get a few kids... more

Our 2nd visit to the Calypso Hotel this year. After staying in June we were disappointed on our return. Although the hotel was as clean ,and the staff very friendly just as before, we now realise that this hotel does not justify a 4 star rating, There are no facilities of any kind, the entertainment in the evening was just... more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in July, and we were suitably impressed. We booked a sea view room on the 5th floor, and the view was first class (overlooks the small harbour, and then out to sea, with the added bonus of the sun in the early evening). The buffet breakfast was excellent, with... more
