I stayed here fro two nights this week whilst working in Portsmouth. The hotel is old and in need of some attention but this was more than made up for by the lovely friendly relaxed welcome I was given. Its horrible being away for work and it was nice to be somewhere that was more like home rather than the... More

I was here on Saturday and actually can't believe what I witnessed. The new managers are bullies and complete thugs! This is by far the worst management the bugle has ever had! I saw a lady being intimidated and physically attacked by the land lady, land lord and other staff members for no reason whatsoever! Can't wait for new management... More

Made to feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. The business was taken over by the new owners in January this year. Lovely to sit by an open fire and take in the relaxed atmosphere. Staff very welcoming, willing to help in anyway they can. Breakfast cooked to order, whatever you want and the chef is... More

Arriving in a litter strewn car park , we were informed by a woman who was the cleaner that " sorry, no clean towels were available". It went downhill from there, dirty room, bed well past it's sell by date (springs loose and uneven, noise from the bar until very late, inedible breakfast. A very tacky downmarket experience for around... More

Not good value for money. Pretty basic, it was a cold room initially when I was shown to it but I finally got the radiator to work, TV was a bit rubbish, shower was cold in the morning after about one minute of warm water, no check out procedure, you are asked put your key in a pot and leave... Friendly and helpful staff, recently redecorated, clean and pleasant rooms. Our evening meal was OK (large portions) and a very nice bottle of house Merlot. However two things were quite irritating:- 1) There was no breakfast available, in contradiction to the website information and 2) They kept locking the front door (in the morning and between lunchtime and evening opening... I love this place have visited this pub on many occasions , would love to see a great Sunday menu with starters and mains . Not much to choose from and it was obviously heated in a microwave as it was molton hot , which is not good when you are hungry , so minus the the blistered mouth staff... More

If you are looking for first class service with a smile, a relaxed atmoshere ,an open fire with fine beer and wines and all in spotlessly clean listed historical biulding , then this is the place to come. The new owners have done the hotel justice and i cant recommend this hotel enough, i was made welcome from the moment... More

Staying at the bugle hotel was a very enjoyable and interesting experience. The rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. This was a great improvement compared to the last time I stayed.
