We were staying here to celebrate a 50th anniversary, they are so welcoming. We had two rooms which were separate to the main building so it was lovely and private. The rooms are luxurious and the bed so comfy. We dined in the restaurant every course was delicious, only downside being that the service was rather slow between courses. Breakfast... More

Stayed at this hotel mid week for just one night en-route to a 50th birthday celebration. The hotel as you would expect for the time of year/week was quiet but this did not affect the level of service provided. We booked two suites, which were suitably decorated for the period of the house; my suite had a four poster bed.... More

This historic building is so interesting it's worth a stay for this alone. Our courtyard suite was ideal for our large dog. Easy access to the outside and good early morning walk through the grounds. Very comfortable four poster bed and large sitting area. Bathroom had a bath and walk in shower. An excellent evening meal, quail, duck, hake and... More

My husband and I treated ourselves to two days here, staying in the glorious St. Gertrude Suite. It is a very special place, having both a very interesting, historical interior and beautiful grounds. The service is excellent and the nothing is too much trouble. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but a tray is brought up on... More

We have just returned from this hotel having spent 5 nights here. It is absolutely charming with delightful service, food and attention to detail. During our stay, my wife was taken ill and needed medical advice, Sue the owner could not have done more for us and assisted us greatly. Fabulous Grounds and Gardens full of Charm and Delight. Very... More

Had a wonderful courtyard room with a four poster bed. Good food and lovely grounds, ideal for a cream tea in the sunshine. Perfect place to stay with a dog as lots of beautiful walks from the hotel including a delightful river walk.

We stayed for one night during the week. Wow! The food and service was exceptional, the room really delightful and our host welcoming and attentive. Highly recommended, the gardens are fantastic and Dartmoor and Devon coastal resorts not too far away. The hotel character and history( its in the room guide) is like stepping back into the Jacobean era. All... More

We had arranged for a massage each in our room, the lady was lovely, highly recommended Dinner was a real experience, canapés whils choosing from the menu, then in to the wood panelled restaurant for 5 courses and... We found Lewtrenchard Manor on the website 'Afternoon Tea' and booked on Wednesday to attend on Friday. It was a cold wet dreary south west day but we were greeted with sunny smiles and given a mini tour of the rooms to choose where we would like to eat. How lovely is that? We chose one of the lounges with... More

Not far off the A30 to cornwall but in deep countryside, this Jacobean country house is a gem. This was our first stay since our initial stay ten years ago. The hotel is now run by the family and from the moment of our arrival to leaving was faultless. Fabulous triple aspect suite off the gallery. Dinner was served in... More
