We did a bit of research about the place before we booked and after seeing nothing at all on islands around Borneo for less than £200 a night we booked this, expecting a basic Hut but beautiful surroundings. That's what we got. When we arrived we had a welcome drink and 10 minute briefing about what's about on the island... More

The boat ride there and back full of screaming Koreans was probably my highlight. It's a beautiful island, and Mari-Mari is cute enough. We went to snorkel and were taken to a couple sites around the island. The sessions were a nice length, but sadly, the reef is not in great condition.

This place was great. White sand long beaches, crystal clear ocean, great setting of the huts facing the ocean, great jungle walks, scuba diving, snorkling - all services including restaurant were reasonable priced. I loved this place. We book through the Mari Mari Backpackers Lodge web site, communicated by emails efficiently, paid by a credit card at the end of... More

We stayed here for 7 nights / 8 days. We paid less than £400 which included return transfers to KK, breakfast and a complementary snorkelling trip. The chalet was picturesque but basic but what do you really need when you are on an island! The food was ok if you were only staying for a day or two but the... More

We stayed for one night in one of the beach huts and had an amazing time here. A perfect tropical island with stunning tropical fish when we went out on the boat trip snorkelling. The room was great, the beach was incredibly beautiful, we loved it.

I spent 3 nights with my boyfriend at Mari Mari. Although the island is very wild, No electricity all day until 6pm, the choice of food and beverage limited and not much to do a part of tuning and swimming.. We loved it!!!! Perfect for diving and snorkelling. I would just advice to improve the cleanliness of the rooms and... More

Despite the negative reviews we enjoyed ourselves. We chose Mari Mari after finding the Semporna Islands too expensive for a family of 5 to stay and snorkel. Mari Mari was an affordable alternative. Although not cheap for us, it catered to all our family needs. We went with another family and altogether the 9 of us rented 3 sulaps. They... More

There are not many options on the island (just one more) and this is a fine place to stay. We stayed in the backpackers camp, so we had to share a room, because the beach houses were fully booked. They're basic rooms with 6 beds and fans which only work at night when the generator is on. Food is ok.... More

Myself and two friends visited the island for two nights at the end of our travels around South East Asia. It was a bit quiet in the evenings, as we were use to chatting to other guests and drinking with guides in other islands alike. The island is possibly more suited to couples, but for the short period we were... More

We visit Mantanani (mari-mari) for 2 days 1 night, the setting of the resort is nice and Mantanani is doubtless a beautiful island for its nature and view. But the resort just disappointed and the service was poor, all the facilities are old and out of maintenance, the heaters for shower were not working properly in all of our chalets... More
