This hotel is the best in the area. Everything about this hotel is average. It's within walking distance of the main section of the town and harbor. There is a golf course and the thermal heated pool is adjacent to the hotel. A slight musty smell permeates the building. But, it was fine for a couple of nights.

Mostly food in Iceland is good, cooked with fresh products. Be warned that at this hotel, dinner's food is of the WORST QUALITY. The bread served was " ball of bread " warm outside but STILL FROZEN inside The salmon was over cooked and awfully dry The side was an INDESCRIBABLE MIXTURE of several vegetables and COLD Nothing you can... We spent one night at the Hotel Stykkisholmur one night before taking the Ferry Baldur across the fjord to Brjanslaekur. The room was a bit small but adequate. The hotel’s position above the town offered some nice views. There was an elevator which made it easy to move luggage in/out of the property. Please note that for security purposes the... More

Upon check-in, found our room reeked of cigarette smoke. They did move us to another room, and gave us a good bottle of red wine with dinner that night at the hotel. The room and beds were comfortable. The bath was small, with a ridiculously tiny countertop; the box of tissues took up one whole half of the counter. The... More

If you've spent a day hiking up Snaefellsjokull or similar, you might be a bit whiff and muddy when you get back to your hotel. Sad to say, Hotel Stykkisholmur does not do guest laundry -- and there is no laundromat in town. No worries, you've got a sink that holds approx 2L of water and a radiator. Good luck... More

I stayed in this hotel for two nights as part of a tour group. There were other tour groups staying here as well which appeared to make up most of the guests. The lobby staff were all very nice and check-in/check-out went smoothly. They even had a power converter for me to borrow since mine did not work. The room... More

I was surprised to find the room furnishings quite low quality and the wifi non-existent in the room. For the same price (or less), I would recommend staying in a smaller hotel for better personal amenities. The only thing this hotel has going for it is a nice lobby/bar area and a restaurant with a sea view. For me, my... More

We arrived late in the evening and were told that our reservation was not on file. The man at the check-in desk was very calm and reassuring, and then found our reservation after all. He put us in a beautiful room, with views of the water and the church. The hotel feels very modern for Iceland, with new carpets and... More

Very functional hotel with good location. Walking distance to everything. The hotel is a bit old but clean in general. The breakfast (included) is good. We had a room with a view on the ocean and the church.

A nice hotel in 1950-60 style but modernized. Rooms small - at least in the old half. Lack of a good place to sit - but for being in a tiny town far, far away this was a fine place. Wifi was perfect. Breakfast was a big buffet Nordic style (lots of freshly baked bread, lots of cold cuts, cheeses,... More
