Volcano Hotel is a great choice along the south coast of Iceland. Modern, clean, large rooms, welcoming. We spent a day with Johann, the owner on a super Jeep tour, including a glacier walk, glacier climbing, black sand beach and the black desert. It was the best day of our trip. Dinner at the Volcano Hotel was excellent. We highly... More

Friendly hotel with nice rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming atmosphere. Do stay for more than one night and book a tour with Johann, the owner! We made a fabulous glacier walk and also experienced the black lava fields in the flooding area of the Katla Volcano. And do not go anywhere else for dinner! There is only one course, but... More

We recently stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel. I highly recommend it. The accomodations are large and well appointed. The owner has taken volcanic stones from the black beach and used them in the tile flooring and bathroom walls. Very impressive! The common area/breakfast area is very comfortable and user friendly. We had our own bottle of wine one evening... More

We stayed one night at Volcano Hotel while travelling from Stokkseyri to Nupar. We found the place to be located in a nice and quiet area. Sólheimajökull and Dyrhólaey were both a short drive away. The room we had was tastefully decorated, spacious and clean. We had dinner at Volcano Hotel and the meal was both filling and delicious. We... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Volcano. The room was large, clean, and lovely! The hotel was so friendly! Margaret made us the most wonderful memorable merengue cake for a birthday celebration! She did this at a short notice after I sent her a last minute email! The cake lasted for 2 days and she brought it out from the... More

For travelers who prefer larger rooms, this hotel will come highly recommended. From my understanding, each guest room was once a class room in this former school building. The decor looks like it came straight out of an Ikea store (and maybe it did). The accommodation was also spotlessly clean. The view out of our window, which faced the rear,... More

I was with a group of friends doing a photography trip to southern Iceland. We spent six nights at the Volcano Hotel. It was a lovely experience. The owners, Margret and Johan could not have been nicer. The hotel was spotless, the rooms spacious, and the food delicious. I am still thinking about that lamb! Johan also runs super-jeep tours.... We hired a car from the airport so we could tour the south coast. Within this review, I'll be discussing all hotels. Day 1 Our first stop was the volcano hotel in Vik, which took about 3 hours. The roads are very quiet and easy to navigate everywhere. The volcano hotel is a complete gem, the rooms are nice and... More

We loved the big family room we stayed in and our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the dinner prepared for us and so did our children. The hotel is situated in a beautiful scenic part of Iceland with a view of the volcano. It was easy to find and great for visiting Vik, the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue... More

we stayed only 1 night, it was fairly quiet, and although they didn't tell us, going by the photos of the rooms it seems they had given us an upgrade which was very nice. rooms are beautiful, great bathrooms too, big comfy beds and big picture windows. just a little bit cold, though, more so in the bathroom. we had...
