My travel partner and I stayed for three nights, we were very pleased with the accommodation overall. If you are looking for a place to stay near Vik (perfect middle spot between Reykjavik and Jokulsarlon), then I highly recommend the Volcano Hotel. The decor is a clean, modern look with lots of glazed black sand (straight from the Vik beaches).... More

Good place to stop in between doing the golden circle and the iceberg lagoon further east. We stayed for two nights and thought it was a good choice for the modern large rooms, the evening meal and its location. The owners are really friendly and th e place has a relaxed atmosphere. We did book a volcano tour but the... More

We stayed for two nights in April 2013 and out of the eight places we stayed during our marathon trip around Iceland I would rate this as one of the best. Our room was number six at the end of the building, very spacious, very clean, comfortable bed and we had the bonus of a door to the car park.... More

Stayed 3 nights in November 2012. Very much enjoyed our stay. The owners are hands on, friendly and helpful. The common room is a great place to relax after a day exploring the wonders of Iceland. Dinner was delicious, even better than some of the regular restaurants we ate at while in Iceland. Entree choices are limited, but we found... More

We stayed one night at the Volcano Hotel (in the "family" room) the last week of September 2012. My husband and I travelled the ring road with our then 16 month old son and this was one of our two favorite hotels. The room was very large, clean, and well appointed....and the view out the window to the rolling pasture... More

We stayed for three nights in April, 2013, and couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. The small hotel is centrally located in the south of Iceland. The hotel owners couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We sampled each of the three dinner menu options (chicken, lamb and fish), and thought they were all great. We actually wanted to eat more... More

The Volcano is run by a lovely couple who have lovingly restored this original schoolhouse and made it into a cosy and comfortable place to stay. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, with comfortable bedding and nice bathrooms. After a long day it was wonderful to relax in the lounge with a glass of wine and enjoy the views.... More

After an extremely windy day, we were happy to arrive at the Volcano Hotel. The hotel is not too large and therefore offers a very personal service. The owners could not have been more helpful. We especially enjoyed our individually prepared dinner in the stylish dining area. The buffet breakfast was very good too. Surprisingly for a relatively small hotel,... More

We stayed for one night a couple weeks ago in a triple room and it was great. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking to stay in the Vik area. Friendly staff, clean spacious rooms (all décor in the hotel looks like a page out of the Ikea catalog), free wifi, good variety of options in the buffet style... More

We stayed 3 nights in Room 7 in Feb. 2013. The hotel is run by a wonderful couple, Johanne and Margret. The room was large, bright, comfortable, and clean. Johanne took us (hubby, I and our 9 year old daughter) on a glacier hike. He was wonderful, informative, careful, and super with our little girl. Margret was a wonderful cook.... More
