We stayed at the guesthouse for 5 days and it was absolutely lovely. The facilities were very nice as well. Clean bathrooms and well-equipped kitchen (pans and pots and oil and sauces and herbs...)! It is just like a home! The owners provided information about the supermarkets and sights nearby and they certainly gave good advice on the lobster soup!... More

Thor Guesthouse is in kind of a random location: on the 4th floor of a random building, but it's right in the city center. In our area (rooms 3-8, I think) we had 3 bathrooms and 2 of them had showers. I never had to wait to use a shower/bathroom. They had hairdryers in there. One of the showers had... More

The owners are fabulous. The rooms are clean, but extremely spartan. I went there on someone's recommendation without looking at it on the internet and was surprised to find the common bathrooms that definitely need redoing. Maybe it's common to have a bed with just a bottom sheet and a comforter with no top sheet in Iceland, but too rough... More

The owners really care, and bent over backwards to be helpful, but it's just not much. Location is very good, but let's face it, going down the hall for a shower or toilet is just not a vacation. Yes they have a tiny elevator, but you still have to walk and drag luggage a full flight of stairs. Not too... More

From the Hallgrímskirkja church the Skolavordustigur runs down to join the laugavegur which is the main pedestrianised drag down into the main centre of town. The Thor Guesthouse is at the junction of Odinsgata and Skolavordustigur next to a nice bookstore which also sells coffee. So, it's a pretty central location. The guesthouse is the 4th floor of a building.... More

I spent only one night in the guesthouse. But will definitively consider this guesthouse again next time I come to Reykjavik. Central location, good spacey room (I had room no 6, it's a double room but I got it as a single room), good bed, good curtains (to make the room dark during the light summer nights), good showers, really... The Thor Guesthouse was very close to the main booking office and all the bars etc. It had it's own kitchen which saved us a lot of money as the supermarkets are a lot cheaper than eating out. The room was clean and the staff were really helpful. The showers were nice and hot and fast flowing and it did... More

We were met on arrival by one of the staff who showed us our room, all the facilities, the various keys etc. Plenty of facilities in the communal kitchen including pizza maker,fridge-freezer,cooker,toaster and great coffee maker with plenty of bags of coffee beans. Also the pc for guests to use. Staff live on the floor above and told us they were available at... More

The Thor GH is 5 minutes walk from the main shopping street of Reykjavik, 20 min walk (or 1,100 ISK taxi) from the bus station. It's 4th floor, with a lift. My room had a decent view. Though simple, the room was spotlessly clean and pleasant. Bathroom not ensuite. Well-equipped communal kitchen. The walls are rather on the thin side,... More
