Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in July 2015. Despite some recent reviews I thought it was a perfectly good stay and would recommend if you're visiting Reykjavik. - Room size decent, beds are firm but comfortable. Small bathroom (typical) and very clean; - Service was perfectly fine. No concerns similar to what other posters have mentioned. We had... More

This place isn't for everyone. First the positives: great, convenient location, just outside the center of town. Very walkable, easy street parking, safe street (the entire city and country felt safe). Small, unique boutique b&b. Comfortable bed and sitting area. Spotless rooms. Blackout curtains (very important!). I like supporting small, local businesses, and I thought I was making a good... More

The positives: the rooms are very clean and comfortable. They make your bed and the room in the morning and in the evening. Breakfast is good. The hotel is very well kept. The decor is "heavy" Central European with lots of gilded Angels. The night manager is nice and friendly. The not so positives: no elevator with steep steps. No... More

The hotel has never put any description of the hotel on TripAdvisor and has never wanted to be listed on this site. However it is impossible to have the hotel removed from this site. The WIFI is not free and on all the booking sites the hotel is listed it is clearly marked as not free. More

I chose the Hotel Phoenix after combing through many hotels for its antiques and beautiful furnishing. Unfortunately, it was like visiting a fussy aunt who couldn't bear for you to touch her things. I had requested early check in, and had I known that was not possible would have paid for a night prior as most flights arrive at 6am.... More

Usually I do not respond to reviews on Tripadvisor but when a guest writes a review, full of lies and only to get back at the hotel for not letting him into the room eight ours before check in time I have to clarify things and correct the lies. Mary W you and your husband came to the hotel at... More

My wife and I just returned from our week long stay in Reykjavik and luckily we had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Phoenix. The place itself is pretty much at the start of the downtown area of Reykjavik and has ample parking along the street. The building is very cozy with limited amount of rooms making this place... Location close to the inner city, nicely decorated and great breakfast. Access only by ringing the doorbell, sort of B&B like atmosphere. Very structured, so nothing is done unless it is per the rules. For instance, no check in before 3 PM even if the room is vacant. The owners/operators are a nice couple of gentlemen, one working in the... More

Small Hotel situated on one end of the main street.Very clean and quiet. On the negetive side it doesnt have a lobby .So if you arrive before the check in time(3PM) you will have to leave the bags and go out.The manager insisted on it.Also one has to wait outside for tour companies to pick you.Fortunately the weather was good while... Hotel Phoenix is no less than the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Everything was clean and nice. But the most important thing for me is the atmosphere and there was plenty here. The owners were kind and very helpful. We had lots of laughs, 'cause the owners had a good sense of humour (in my opinion). I really enjoyed... More

It is located in the main street of Reykjavík. The employees are wonderful, really helpful, dedicated to their job and always pleased to provide you any information or advice you may need. The breakfast comes from heaven: all the coffee you want, orange juice, milk, ham, cheese, butter, fresh tomato, fruit marmalade and a great "skyr" a typical icelandic yoghourt.... More

As a woman of a certain age, traveling alone, I like to research carefully before booking a hotel. This hotel had everything I was looking for. A little bit "out" from the very center of town, but within easy walking distance of the main shopping street, it was quiet and perhaps the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in; the... More
