I chose the Hotel Phoenix after combing through many hotels for its antiques and beautiful furnishing. Unfortunately, it was like visiting a fussy aunt who couldn't bear for you to touch her things. I had requested early check in, and had I known that was not possible would have paid for a night prior as most flights arrive at 6am.... More

Steindor I, Owner at Hotel Phoenix, responded to this review

Usually I do not respond to reviews on Tripadvisor but when a guest writes a review, full of lies and only to get back at the hotel for not letting him into the room eight ours before check in time I have to clarify things and correct the lies. Mary C you and your husband came to the hotel at... More

My wife and I just returned from our week long stay in Reykjavik and luckily we had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Phoenix. The place itself is pretty much at the start of the downtown area of Reykjavik and has ample parking along the street. The building is very cozy with limited amount of rooms making this place... Location close to the inner city, nicely decorated and great breakfast. Access only by ringing the doorbell, sort of B&B like atmosphere. Very structured, so nothing is done unless it is per the rules. For instance, no check in before 3 PM even if the room is vacant. The owners/operators are a nice couple of gentlemen, one working in the... More

Small Hotel situated on one end of the main street.Very clean and quiet. On the negetive side it doesnt have a lobby .So if you arrive before the check in time(3PM) you will have to leave the bags and go out.The manager insisted on it.Also one has to wait outside for tour companies to pick you.Fortunately the weather was good while... Hotel Phoenix is no less than the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Everything was clean and nice. But the most important thing for me is the atmosphere and there was plenty here. The owners were kind and very helpful. We had lots of laughs, 'cause the owners had a good sense of humour (in my opinion). I really enjoyed... More

It is located in the main street of Reykjavík. The employees are wonderful, really helpful, dedicated to their job and always pleased to provide you any information or advice you may need. The breakfast comes from heaven: all the coffee you want, orange juice, milk, ham, cheese, butter, fresh tomato, fruit marmalade and a great "skyr" a typical icelandic yoghourt.... More

As a woman of a certain age, traveling alone, I like to research carefully before booking a hotel. This hotel had everything I was looking for. A little bit "out" from the very center of town, but within easy walking distance of the main shopping street, it was quiet and perhaps the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in; the... More

We stayed in Hotel Phoenix during our Iceland trip and were very happy with it. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the whole hotel has a good vibe to it. The two gentlemen who run the hotel were immensely nice and helped us with everything we needed. The breakfast is lovely!

Large comfortable room, impeccably clean. The evening turn-down service was a surprise but it shows they care. The breakfast included the best Skyr we had throughout our trip. Great hospitality from our hosts who are genuinely interested in making sure guests have a great stay in Reykjavik. This is one of those places where I would be confident of getting... More
