I don't quite understand the criticism the Icelandair Loftleidir Hotel gets on this site. It was very clean, the staff was quick to respond and responsive and its only about one mile from the heart of Reykjavik (not a bad comparison to hotels in Manhattan, Chicago, etc.). If you are in sem-decent physical shape (or are trying to get into... more

I stayed at the hotel during a conference. The rooms at the hotel are very nice and the food is ok. Unfortunately the service at the reception is not up to standards. The people at the reception don't seem to know how to smile, they are very slow and seem to make a lot of mistakes. An other negative is... more

Unfortunately far from the city center. A car or a 30m walking is necessary more

Unexciting for a city break, but spotlessly clean. A good half hour stroll, which would be fine save for Icelandic weather, but with courtesy buses 4 times each day. Breakfast at 1600 ISK and an unchanging dinner menu; neither tried. more

This hotel was perfect for staying in expensive Iceland. The rooms are clean (though "European" sized), quiet (our room was facing the airport and I don't think I heard one plane), and the staff are very helpful. You can rent a car there (and they found me a great deal on a rental) and the restaurant had an all you... more

This hotel has 4 stars, but after spending 10 nights in it we were unsure why. We had booked a double room, but apparently the hotel only has single beds which can be pushed together to form a double - we spent the nights trying to avoid the gap in the middle. We were also told that as we had... more

Decent enough. We had one of the larger rooms which was fine. We saw the regular rooms and thought they were rather small. The hotel is somewhat isolated. They run a shuttle to downtown which is convenient. Unfortunately, if you stay late, you have to get back on your own. We found ourselves walking back - which isn't too bad... more

My husband and I stayed here for three nights total -- once at the beginning of our tour and once at the end. The hotel is not close to downtown Reykjavik, but it a pretty easy bus or taxi ride away. The Pearl is a 10-15 minute hike up a hill, but the open space and view of the city... more
