We arrived cold and tired. Melissa and another greeted us with a friendly smile and we were in our room in minutes. Breakfast was plentiful, a good selection of hot and cold choices. Melissa was enthusiastic about our trips and seemed throughly interested. She told us about her country and was very proud to be Icelandic. My only gripe was... More

Booked a 4 night stay as part of a northern lights tour package. The photos we saw on the website don't do it justice. Beautiful big room, gorgeous modern bathroom with wet room style shower and a nice view of the sea and mountains? Slightly away from city centre but lots of restaurants just a 5 minute walk away. We... More

This one's a little bit out of the centre so we used the hire car for trips into the city, where meter parking was fine, as long as you have loose change. Several places to eat nearby, especially Askur round the corner. Great staff, great views from our top floor room, clean, warm and comfortable. Other reviews say the rest,... More

Just spent a week at the Hotel Island with other half, staff most helpful and friendly. Breakfast (inc in room rate) was good, ample free parking on the road opposite the hotel. City centre about 1.9 Km from hotel walkable in about 20 minutes, even in the snow if you are active -Taxi about 3000 Krona from town to hotel... More

The room was ok, breakfast was good, room was good but the staff were extremely helpful. One of my activities was cancelled due to a storm so they re arranged different activities and transfers so that we didn't miss out or get charged extra. We didn't even book the activities with them so they definitely went the extra mile.

Yeah no problems.. Breakfasts are good. Staff service is great, bar staff are great, laundry room service is great. Local to all tours and location to city is fine. Rooms are clean. Get a top floor room facing the sea as views are fantastic

My daughter and I chose Iceland hoping to see the Northern Lights (weather has not co-operated so far) and chose Hotel Island from the tour packages because it offered breakfast. We have found its easier to eat breakfast at our hotel and then go sightseeing for the day with hunger satisfied. The breakfast was great with choices available for both... More

I booked 4 nights in Reykjavik through Wowcher and the travel agent crystal travel. They offered 3 hotels to choose from and I chose Hotel Island because of the slightly better reviews and that it had recently been refurbished. We were upgraded to the top floor during our stay and the room was a huge suite with views of the... More

On first impressions this hotel is lovely, reception very modern, warm and inviting. Nice bar and seating area to the side of reception where drinks/snacks can be purchased. Reception staff extremely helpful, one night a tour was cancelled and it got rather snowy so we didn't feel like venturing out and reception staff ordered is a dominos to be delivered... More

First impression was spot on modern reception and bar, staff we're polite and mega helpful and always willing to have a chat and give advice on the area. The rooms are a little dated but perfectly clean and fit for purpose. Location was not a problem for us being fit and able. Was only a 30 min walk into city... More
