In August 2010, I actually booked a room at another hotel (a budget, 3-star hotel). But that hotel overbooked their rooms, and after paying them their budget price, paid for me to spend the night here, at the Grand Hotel Reykjavik. So I didn't pay whatever the Grand Hotel's rates were, but boy, this is a nice hotel. Rooms are... more

I was staying in this hotel on Aug 1 and Aug 9-13. I booked this hotel through Expedia because it offered a special rate at CAD$160(= 130 euro) per night. We checked in at 7:30am. One of our rooms was ready but the other was not. The front desk person quickly located another room for us so we could rest... more

Average hotel and understandably, nothing stood out from service to rooms to food. It was a indiscriminate, last minute booking on our part. It is a bit of a walk (15-20 min) to city center and an even shorter taxi ride. The best part was proximity to the Hilton and therefore, the 5-star VOX restaurant- a gastronomic delight. Breakfast which... more

Great hotel about 15 minutes walk from centre of city. Good quality modern hotel with excellent public areas. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Hotel is very close to public baths and hot pool only 2 Euro entry. Hotel bike hire is a great way to get around the city. Avoid the hotel gymn as charge for single use is £20... more

Hotel has all usual facilities - 3 free computers with internet connection. Breakfast was a bit boring only 5 tv channels - only english one is sky news movies cost 2500Ikn... more

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, spatious rooms, clean, nordic decoration, hefty breakftast but a bit too far away to walk into the downtown if you are short of time. They do offer a complimentary shuttle downtown 3 times a day in the summer. Excellent for conferences with top of the line technology and equipment. Free interent in the lobby but... more

The Grand hotel is a modern building grafted on to a slightly older hotel, with which it shares breakfast and restaurant facilities. I have visited twice this year, each time for several nights. The hotel is a little way out of the centre of town - a 20-minute brisk walk, or 5 minutes in a taxi - close to the... more

Absolute a hotel with a professional and international staff and attitude. It appeals mostly to bussiness people and not turists. It is also expensive. LOCATION About 15-20 min. walk from city center. ROOMS large rooms with huge beds. Some rooms only have windows to the lobby. It a pretty depressing. it feels like being in prison because you cannot open... more

My experience with this hotel went from bad to worse during my stay: - the expensive internet connection in my room would not work. - the free wifi internet connection in the lobby had a very poor signal. - many of the bathroom fittings were loose. - the shower door did not work and so flooded the floor. - the... more

I tend to compare amenities in a Las Vegas hotel to other hotels elsewhere- and it has always been a disappointment, until I stayed at the Grand Hotel. This was well equipped with modern fixtures, service was excellent, meals were impeccable. Immaculately clean and smells good and fresh. more
