We were sent to Hotel Holt after our hotel had overbooked and had to transfer us. We weren't happy with them, but fortunately, Hotel Holt was an interesting and usual place to arrive to. It reminded us a bit of British manor houses, but with Icelandic art inside. Our room was of a standard size, with only a shower in... More

We stayed two nights in clean, quiet and very accommodating hotel. The staff was eager to offer suggestions, arrange activities, taxis and even medical service facilities for emergency health problem. The gourmet restaurant houses several famous Icelandic art work, a magnificent setting for a truly great meal. Only suggestion would to upgrade room selection. Single beds very small although comfortable.... More

A thousand thanks to my fellow reviewers who helped me choose this hotel. It's located on the edge of the main tourist areas so it's a convenient walk but quieter at night. We got the larger room with sitting area and it was a great choice. It had a mini-fridge full of minibar items but there was some room for... More

In a city full of hotels the holt manages to be better than most It is very clean serves a great breakfast and has very comfortable well equipped rooms It is easy walk to the centre but on a street that is quiet not easy in rekjavik The staff are all delightful and helpful and although it is not cheap... It is in a good position , but get a rear room as the street can be very noisy at weekends, right through the night Entrance tired , needs new carpets and better lighting. Rooms are smallish like a motel. No baths, but a powerful shower. TV few channels but you get BBC 1 and Sky news. Breakfast, can be shared tables.... More

Hard to understand that great reviews this hotel receives. While the staff is lovely and the location excellent, the hotel is neither. Rooms are badly furnished and dreary with old and cheap carpeting, drapes and bedspreads. Plastic covered chairs, tiny bathrooms, no bathtub. Twin beds are tiny. breakfast is adequate at best, lousy coffee and average food. Street noise made... More

this is a great hotel - very warm and friendly, with a lovely old world luxe feel. we loved the cosy bar for a drink, and the location was great - walk to every where with ease. and the only hotel we stayed at in iceland with block out curtains - bliss!! we had to leave for our flight early... The first sight of the hotel is a bit dispiriting as the architecture is more '1960's carpark' as one guidebook put it! But don't be downhearted, once inside it's more traditional with wood panelling and stained glass windows. We received a warm welcome from Sven on the desk who was very helpful throughout our stay and went up to our... More

Stayed here a total of three nights on bookends of hiking trip. Rooms were great. It is a wonderful location, close to everything but in a neighborhood area. The staff were phenomenal. They are friendly and helpful and problem solving

This is now my third trip to Iceland, and have stayed at many different hotels there. One thing you need to understand is that at the most favoured destinations in Iceland, hotels can charge above what you would expect in many countries for similar standard rooms. There is a real shortage of rooms as tourists numbers are over 1 million... More
