My wife and I had to make an emergency trip to Reykjavik to help my 84 year old father. He fell and broke his hip while touring Iceland. We arrived in Reykjavik at 6 AM with no reservations. All of the hotels in the city center were booked solid as it was Cultural Day. A crowd of 100K+ was expected... More

Nice looking hotel, perfect setting and location, but no value for money. Madrasses are from 70s, and the noise! Impossible to sleep, you can here every word from all the other rooms. I have never been in this kind of motel in my life.

" Resistance is futile." Booked 4 day stay prior to hiking trip. Arrived after midnight with confirmed reservation was given the room facing square directly above the bar, which was in full swing celebrating Gay Pride week, and adjacent to staff elevator and cleaning office. No sleep Did change room in AM although staff cold and indifferent( hence Borg reference)... More

Perfect location. Lovely and helpful staff. Our room was excellent. Bathroom exceptional with heated towel rack and floor! Didn't know what to expect due to mixed reviews but we had no complaints-- wish I remembered room number so could recommend--416?

We wanted to live in what we heard was one of reykjaviks epic hotels. We booked 2 nights with the specific purpose of eating at the restaurant which we also researched (the chef). Very excited. When we came, the restaurant had closed, the hotel is presently in the middle of a Building site with constant noise. Not at all what... More

Pros: great central location; incredible renovation with unparalleled devotion to detail of 1930's deco style. Tasteful and reserved decor. Cons: expensive and misleading - I booked a suite which was clearly no more than a deluxe double room- no separate sitting room; top floor next to the elevator (what hotel puts a suite next to an elevator?); low ceilings and... 1920's Art Deco hotel with appropriate period decor throughout. Well maintained and updated. Bathroom was new and well appointed. Bedroom nicely decorated with a new mattress. Rooms were on the small side. The only negative I can report is that you should bring your own Toilet paper as whatever brand they are using could double as chip board.

Well appointed rooms with views over the square the staff were helpful if not a little stand offish. The bedroom was spacious warm and reasonably quiet to say it overlooked the main square where all night revelers congregate the sleep quality was very good. The hotel is styled in a art deco fashion with tinted windows. It is centrally located... More

The Borg was built in the ‘30s and reflects its art deco roots. Its central location cannot be beat; one can walk to everything in town. The standard rooms can be tiny, and cannot practically handle both a desk chair and second chair. Our room had a pocket bathroom so small that there was no place whatsoever for gear except... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in July as part of our honeymoon. It is a nice hotel, with spacious and clean rooms in central Reykjavik. Very nice, classic Icelandic breakfast with lots of fresh fish, muesli and skyr. There are some clubs and pubs nearby, which might be annoying if you are a light sleeper, but it wasn't a... More
