I stayed there for almost a week, in April 2012. This is more than a hostel, it has a bar, food service, with really good food, live concert nights and a great view of the Ocean. I really liked the cool retro-look. The staff is really friendly. During the night, it would get a bit cold in the room, but... More

This place has so much character and is obviously popular with backpackers the world over. As a more mature traveller I found I wished I was 20 or 30 years younger to really enjoy this place. It is quite spartan but with loads of character from the original building. The rooms are functional and there are enough bathrooms on each... More

We stayed here for an extended weekend and found the staff extremely helpful with confirming bookings for us and suggesting bars and restaraunts to eat at. All their recommendations were amazing! The Rooms were cosy and minimalistic but comfortable and the decor of the bar and reception area had a great warm vibe to it. Perfect the snow laden days... More

This place was awesome! With a funky décor and super chilled vibe it was a great place to have a drink after our adventure filled days. It also seemed to be a bit of a hangout for locals which is good sign. The rooms were basic but really warm and they provided towels and bedding. The breakfast was pretty reasonable... More

I am an icelander who lives in the capital area so staying in hostels in reykjavik isn't something I normally do. But due to a project I was working on I spent four nights here with a group of 30 foreigners. I was not dissappointed!!! Kex is known to Icelanders as a cool hangout place and music venue but the... Given how expensive everything in Iceland is, Kex is a pretty good alternative! Bathrooms and rooms are clean, and the design of the place is great as well, very imaginative, down to the room numbers! Staff are friendly. It is walking distance to the main shopping street, but it was snowing when I was there so it was a bit... More

I stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. I enjoyed every moment of it. Staff were very helpful with booking tours and general information. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and had the whole room to myself for the three nights which was great. Location is pretty good, not far to walk anywhere as Reykjavik is a relatively small... More

Stayed here for New Years 2012. Really cool place to hang out and meet new people. Lots of people traveling alone so it's easy to find a group to hang out with. There's a bar and restaurant here so there's not much reason to even leave the hostel except to do a tour. Great value too! Linens and towels are... More

I don't like to exaggerate, but this could be one of the coolest hostels I've ever stayed in. Design wise, it looks fantastic - retro, vintage chic and little touches everywhere showing great attention to detail. It must be good as there's always fashion shoots and shows going on there. It's warm everywhere too, which helps, given you're in Iceland.... More

This hostel was in a brilliant location, there is an amazing view from the window in the bar. The decoration is pretty special too. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. There was toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, meat, tea, juice loads to choose from. The rooms were... More
