First off, the location of this place is amazing. The hostel is literally on the seafront with beautiful views from the exterior and the front-facing hostel windows. It's right next to the Solfoss sculpture and is only a short walk into the centre of the city and the Harpa so it's pretty ideal. The hostel is really cool, it has... More

After traveling all day in the cold it was always a good feeling to come back to this hostel. with its onsite bar, where all the locals come to drink so you know its good. the bar shuts a 22:00 so there is no noise if you need to sleep, but its a good place to start. the staff are... More

My first time in a hostel and I struck gold! Very clean and lovely staff and visitors. Option to get breakfast in the morning which had a wide variety with the chance to try local delicacies. Perhaps not for someone on a tight budget because it's still a little pricey, but then you should expect that in Iceland. Overall very... More

A co-worker recommended this hostel to me so after review I booked it. Its got tons of character and seems to be well run. I booked through hostelworld and maybe I missed some things in my excitement for my trip. I thought breakfast was included but it wasn't along with a duvet for the bed. The areas are kept very... Our first night in Iceland and it was fantastic. When we stepped into corridor it looked like communist brutal concrete building, Bauhaus almost, however when we reached reception table I had a Wow moment!! Incredible little place with old industrial & art Deco mix lounge, bar, restaurant and performance scene upfront. Very bohemian, chilled, lovely lovely place. And they had... More

Really cool, quirky hostel with lovely staff and a great nightlife. Unfortunately we were only here for a few hours to get some sleep before our very early flight. Loved the bowl of free earplugs at the reception desk - great touch for those who are sharing a dorm room - not that these were needed as we found everyone... More

I was recommended Kex from a friend and after eventually finding it we were very pleased. Really cozy and funky surroundings, refill coffee and bread to help yourself. The food was beautiful and welcomed after walking in the snow to find Kex. I would recommend to anyone visiting Reykjavik, just make sure you keep a keen eye out as the... More

Not only is KEX a super rad hostel in an old cookie factory, but it's in an almost perfect location, serves great food, and welcomes in locals to eat and drink. Although it's a bit on the pricey side, it's definitely worth it. The 16-person dorm was a roomy as a 16-person dorm can be. Not once did I feel... More

Slept like an angel at Kex hostel! The beds (even the bunk beds) are amazing and comfortable. The kitchen on the third floor is spacious and well equipped. The vibe and the looks of the place are great with all the little knick-knacks making it a fun place to stay at. The bar is lively, I especially recommend the dates&bacon... More

Three friends and I spent two nights at Kex and overall have a very positive experience. We arrived in time for breakfast after an overnight flight and enjoyed one of the best meals we had in Iceland! The dorms were in typical hostel fashion- busy and a little noisy at night- but a decent place to rest. The hostel is... More
