I was so lucky to have found this place and stayed here! This hostel is a must for travelers looking to meet other travelers and have a good time. The people were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the food amazing. Great location too- close to the main street and easy to find. I Loved the down comforters they offered... More

The hostel has a hipster feel, while still being homely and comfortable. While I have given this hostel 5 stars I would also caution that it's not recommended for all travellers. This hostel would be perfect for lone travellers. There where quite a few US, Canadian and Europeans here for an extended stay and the hostels communal spaces and large... More

I'd never been to Iceland before, but it had been high on my list for years. I knew one visit wasn't going to chat it so I was hoping to find a hostel that I could come back to several times over the coming years. I found it. Firstly, be under no illusions, this is as hipster a location as... More

I stayed on 2nd floor of the hostel. Overall is good but the travellers here are horrible... The kitchen was awful because of the users....I have to thank the staff who clean the implements. The kettle needs an adapter....it is quite rediculous. They tell you to label your food, but pen and labels are not provided. My food always got... More

Craft beers, live jazz, bearded and top-knotted staff, retro artwork on the wall and a library by the bar... Essentially, it was like being in East London. Great place at a fair price and the staff were very helpful with regards to booking day trips etc. Had to move rooms as someone was snoring like a bear with chainsaw arms;... More

This hostel was without doubt the best I've ever ever ever stayed in. Doesn't look much from the outside, but it couldn't be a much cooler, friendlier place if it tried. Bar and restaurant are excellent and frequented by locals and travellers alike. Had an amazing sea view from my room. Reception / travel desk couldn't be more helpful. My... More

Kex is definitely the obvious choice for the hip urban traveler. The decor couldn't be cooler and the concept is very well defined. They go to great lengths to distance their offering from the regular dodgy hostels out there through design, typography and copywriting. While I really appreciate the effort put into the vibe and feel it makes it worth... More

This place is cool, relaxed and ideal for any traveller wanting a chilled vibe as their base while in Reykjavik! Great location, helpful staff, delicious food, tasty beer selection, unreal view of the sea, always clean and tidy and filled with really fun people! The staff helped us book the most amazing trips and activities. Locals come into the bar... More

I am 65 and about to retire. Recently my adult daughter and I traveled to Iceland, spending three days at KEX before heading out to see volcanoes, geysers, icebergs, lava fields, and glaciers. I have had the good fortune to travel in nearly 100 countries in my life and have stayed in some of the world's best hotels and some... More
