I stayed for one night at Kex in July of 2013 for my 14 hour layover. This hostel is not the cheapest, but it definitely one of the most unique. The location, just based on the map and street views, is one of the better hostel locations as well. You can see the ocean and mountains from your seat in... More

Super cheap cool staff full bar and restaurant downstairs rooms are clean, super central to the city. Chillest of vibes. You don't need 200 characters to describe this place I'm telling you go........

Loved this place. Great atmosphere, Icelandic locals were really welcoming and friendly and the food was superb. We shared a dorm with 3 strangers and it was clean and the bathrooms has hot water and were private. The reception booked all our excursions and looked after us very well.

Saw images on the Internet and decided I wanted to experience Kex! We had a private room with shared bath and a BEAUTIFUL view! This place is funky! The design is fun and being an old biscuit factory it has that industrial feel to it, cement floors, high ceilings and exposed pipes. The rooms are Spartan but very clean. Each... More

My daughter and I visited Iceland on the tail end of our whirlwind tour of the UK and Northern Ireland. We had purchased a rather large suitcase in Scotland to fit all of her clothes she bought while "school clothes" shopping! Suffice it to say, we had to lug that thing around everywhere it seemed! This hostel was no break... More

I was so lucky to have found this place and stayed here! This hostel is a must for travelers looking to meet other travelers and have a good time. The people were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the food amazing. Great location too- close to the main street and easy to find. I Loved the down comforters they offered... More

The hostel has a hipster feel, while still being homely and comfortable. While I have given this hostel 5 stars I would also caution that it's not recommended for all travellers. This hostel would be perfect for lone travellers. There where quite a few US, Canadian and Europeans here for an extended stay and the hostels communal spaces and large... More

I'd never been to Iceland before, but it had been high on my list for years. I knew one visit wasn't going to chat it so I was hoping to find a hostel that I could come back to several times over the coming years. I found it. Firstly, be under no illusions, this is as hipster a location as... More

I stayed on 2nd floor of the hostel. Overall is good but the travellers here are horrible... The kitchen was awful because of the users....I have to thank the staff who clean the implements. The kettle needs an adapter....it is quite rediculous. They tell you to label your food, but pen and labels are not provided. My food always got... More

Craft beers, live jazz, bearded and top-knotted staff, retro artwork on the wall and a library by the bar... Essentially, it was like being in East London. Great place at a fair price and the staff were very helpful with regards to booking day trips etc. Had to move rooms as someone was snoring like a bear with chainsaw arms;... More
