The apartments are worse than grubby student halls 20 years ago. There are building materials outside the lobby, there are dirty fixtures and fittings and the walls are paper thin. You can hear the toilet flushing in others apartments and you can hear everyone coming in and out day and night. I'm far from fussy but we really did not... More

I was extremely disappointed in my stay after reading great reviews on here- I'm not too fussy normally just expected a clean, basic apartment. I'm 23 and my boyfriend 26 so didn't mind some noise etc. I'll start off with the good points- location is excellent and it was a 3min walk to the city centre and famous landmarks and... More

Grettisgata has a great location. The tours companies (except Reykjavik Excursions) are at a walking distance, so you don't need to pay for pick-ups. Keep in mind, that the Apartments don't have a street-view lobby, and waiting outside for pick-ups during Winter can be harsh. We stayed for two weeks during Winter (2014-2015), and the heaters in the apartment did... More

I rented a studio basement apartment in October. It was a small but large enough room with 2 twins pushed together but very comfortable. A stovetop but no oven, small fridge, toaster, coffeemaker and a supply of salt, pepper, coffee and filters, tea bags, sugar. I've never rented a place this well stocked. The shower was large and the water hot... More

I originally booked to stay at Grettisgata apartments but a few days before I left for Iceland I was told that a group of people were staying longer than expected and we were upgraded to the 1 bedroom studio apartment at 2 Brautarholt 'stay apartments' for no extra cost which we were very pleased about once we had arrived. The... More

Slight confusion with the apparments. First we were in a 1 bedroom flat which was very nice but was only an upgrade for few nights. After we were put into a studio apparment which we originally booked. Space wise the studio was ok however heaters did not fully work and sofa was dirty. Apart from this, the management is doing... We picked this building after quite a bit of research and were not disappointed. We were staying for a full month so it was important to have a good location and at least some of the comforts of home at a bargain price. The room was spartan by North American standards but we recognize that this is the norm in... More

Some of the previous reviewers had bad experiences here, but we didn't. We had a second floor room which was quite comfortable for a family of four (two teens). Stayed for two nights and never met the owner or any other staff. Totally self-serve, which is fine. The location is perfect, walking distance from everything a tourist would want. Laudasvegur,... I get the idea of low budget hotel/ hostel, but for me the price wasn't that low comparing to what we got. The room itself was ok, there was a TV and a fully equipped kitchenette (we were not using their glasses and mugs tho...too dirty, so we just picked up some plastic cups). The heater was on when we... More

The stay apartments work on a model of 'low touch' from the staff. The reception is unmanned with towels changed every other day. However it doesn't feel as though you're deserted - there are contact email and phone numbers in case of problems and issues are resolved quickly and without fuss. If you want an apartment that is good value... More
