My first time to Iceland, what a beautiful place very friendly people. The guesthouse is located in the centre of town and is central to everything. The owners are very friendly and will give you lots of information. The rooms are clean and tidy and ideal for travellers and students. This is a guesthouse for people that are in transit... More

First of all, Katie and Rafn, who own and run 1912 Guesthouse are wonderful. They are friendly, outgoing, and hospitable. On my fourth night at the guesthouse they made waffles (not a regular occurrence, but it was Culture Night in Reykjavik). I was already enjoying my stay but this bit of hospitality and meeting some of their family and friends... More

Historical home within walking distance of attractions and the main street in Reykjavik. The house is large with many rooms and with plenty of bathrooms for the volume. Nice big windows and communal areas. Kitchen has dedicated refrigerator areas for each room so guests can store their food and drinks knowing they will be there when they get home. Great... More

We just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the 1912 Guest House! It is very centrally located, within easy walking distance from all of the sites of Reykjavik. We had to share a bathroom but the bathrooms were always clean and available. All guests are required to take off their shoes in the building and thus, the floors are... More

I can't bring myself to give this guest house 5 stars / dots. It's in a great location, right downtown in the busy area, convenient to many attractions, restaurants, and shops. It's 1/4 the cost of the Hotel Borg which is 50 feet away, on the square. It's very clean and has just about everything you need: well equipped kitchen,... More

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at 1912 on a 5-day trip to Iceland last year. This guest house is tucked away on a tiny street right off a main road in Reykjavik. We stayed in room 302, on the top floor, a nice spacious room with two comfortable beds and balcony access. Bathrooms are shared, but they... More

Reserving this guesthouse was very easy. Communication with the owner was frequent and pleasant. He provided us with the passcode before we got there which made arriving at 1am local time more enjoyable for all of us. I really liked the big red door- pretty and easy to find :) When we finally did Richard, he was very accommodating. Our... More

Great central location within walking distance to Reykjavik's sights and activities. We were only there for two nights in the off-season, and we were the only ones in the place so the shared bathrooms were no problem. Good heaters in the rooms, as it was already getting chilly in October. We had some trouble with the WiFi, but the owner... More
