This is a wonderful place to stay. Edda and Runar are fabulous hosts. Really central, right next to the beautiful cathedral in Rekyavik, the guest house is very comfortable and the breakfasts round the communal table are memorably fun. No wonder 'home from home' is the most used phrase about Eric the Red. Edda took us on a Golden Circle... More

This is a great guesthouse particularly for first time visitors to Iceland as the hosts are a mine of Icelandic information and happy to provide recommendations and advice. Breakfast is generous and delicious. The morning we had to leave for a tour at 7:30, Edda made us The Biggest Breakfast Ever to take with us. The bedroom was clean and... More

I just spent two wonderful weeks at Eric the Red Guesthouse in Reykjavik. Both Runar and Edda, the proprietors of this guesthouse, have excellent knowledge about the history and mode(s) of travel around Iceland. They will take care of your needs in full. The breakfast they serve goes beyond ordinary, it is varied and plentiful. The big dining room table... More

Comfortable guesthouse, easy to reach with Airbus, within sight of the cathedral and close to downtown. good value with ensuite. Excellent breakfast includes oatmeal/porridge and many cheeses, with a huge table. When I arrived early, I was invited to breakfast, so nice after an overnight flight. There are lots of interesting books about Iceland in the breakfast room. Antique furniture... More

The guest house is at a very convenient location, right across the street of the Hallgrímskirkja church. It a 3-minute to the old town center and 5-10 minute walking to the central bus station (BSI) from where one can take bus to the airport or rent cars from several companies with very reasonable rates. The owner was very nice. We... More

My son and I stayed at eric The Red for 3 nights. It is very well located, on a quiet street a very short walk from the heart of town. It's clean and comfortable with excellent wifi. Great communal breakfast service where you can meet fellow travellers. But the best thing of all is Edda, who runs the guest house... More

In a quieter part of Reykjavik, but still really central and definitely walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast good. Breakfast area is busy and buzzy, and tea and coffee ran out at one point, and those wanting a lie-in be aware it is only between 8am-9am. Lovely to hear church bells from nearby Hallgrimskirkja. Hosts very friendly,... More

My family of four stayed just two nights at this conveniently located, easy to find bed and breakfast in June 2014. Though our room was a bit tight due to four beds jigsawed into the room, it provided us exactly what we needed - a clean, bright room that had pull down blinds which we appreciated due to 24 hour...
