Pros: location is perfect to walk to the town centre, bus station, opposite the beautiful Hallgrimskirkja church which is the main landmark in the city. Room was clean Cons: guest house is dated & shabby breakfast is mediocre (oatmeal, browned fruit, toast, cold meat) our hosts were busy painting their own living quarters so were tired and harried when we... If you are looking for a cozy home away from home, this is the place for you. We had a room with a small kitchenette, which was perfect for the type of travel we like to do. Plus, when my partner injured her back our first day there, it was essentail - as was the bathhouse just around the block.... More

I stayed at Eric the Red during the middle of January for three nights. It's located steps from the main street in town and the Edda could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The breakfast was fantastic! The guesthouse is not the fanciest place in town but the hosts are certainly some of the friendliest. If I make it... More

I visited Eric the Red Guesthouse with a best friend 12-15 Jan and had a great time as always! This is one of many visits to the guesthouse. Edda and Rúnar are fantastic hosts and truly have become great friends. I always look forward to the warm welcome of the home every time I visit Reykjavík. The guesthouse is clean,... More

Our stay in one of the two-bedroom apartments was excellent. The apartment is cozy and pretty, but also very modern and well equipped. Even though there were five adults, we had plenty of room. The location was perfect, very close to the main downtown shopping area as well as the iconic church at the center of town. Edda and Runar... More

The location is fantastic; you can easily walk to all the sights downtown. You are across the street diagonally from a landmark church, which you can take an elevator to the top of and see out over Reykjavik. You can see the church from most of the city, so you always know the way back to the guesthouse. There is... More

I really cannot thank Edda & Runar enough for an amazing stay at their house. They are so kind, friendly and welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was also amazing with homemade bread and cakes. Their house is very centrally located which is an added bonus. I loved their cat as well and even came to chill with... More

This was our fourth visit to Iceland and our best yet. The Loft apartment situated just behind the Guesthouse (5mins walk) was superb. It is well stocked with absolutely everything you could want to cater for yourself. The rooms are spacious and well lit. It is a quiet location but so close to the main shopping streets and the Lake.... More

The owners at Eric the Red are very friendly and went out of their way to help. We did not stay in the main guesthouse, but at their apartments 500m away on Bergstadastraeti. We were in the basement apartment which was small, but warm and cosy and quite adequate for a few days' stay for a family. It was in... More

We are satisfied with everything in this apartment! It's one of our best decisions to choose it. The location is extremely good coz all the restaurants and tourist attractions in downtown can be reached in 10 minnutes' walk.
