Eric The Red Guesthouse is probably set up more for young backpackers than for middle-aged travellers like ourselves. Our room was fine, though like many houses in Iceland it was very hot, even with the windows open in the middle of January and we could not get it cool enough. There was a TV and a microwave and a table... More

We stayed here for one night in january 2015. The owners are sweet people, that try to have a chat and try to help. But the rooms are old, with a dirty ceiling. Our bedsheets had stains. The tapwater smells of sulfur, while in our accomodation in Reykjavik we didnt have that problem. Wifi was working allright and breakfast was... More

If you want a hotel, book a hotel. If you want to feel part of a family, have information and advice on tap, laugh with travellers from all over the world at breakfast and have an environment full of authentic artwork and decoration - book here! Perfectly placed a few minutes walk from the Main Street, so central but quiet.... More

Visited already 2 times and was 2 times great! Nice people, good rooms, flexible in everything and can tell you a lot of Iceland if you want to. It really feels like living in Iceland there instead of being a tourist in Iceland.

I had emailed when I made the booking asking about airport pick up suggestions, or to find out if walking was reasonable. The email wasn't answered. Not a big deal. Greeted at the door by an older gentleman in a robe, who was gruff. We were there a bit before check in, hoping to just dump out bags. They let... More

Dear Alexandra We try our best to make our guests happy and we sure hope people get some good memories by staying with us. Running a business means you have to have both of your eyes open and it can happen that someone leaves this house not quite satisfied. . I want to thank you for your comment about the... More

A good accommodation. Near to the center, easy to find. Never get lost, because the place is near a large church on top of a hill. Near to the bus station, 5 minutes walk. Good breakfast, and beautiful cats.

I whole-heartedly recommend Eric the Red Guesthouse. You will find it in a prime location on the street to the right of the main entrance of Hallgrimskirkja Church and a 5-minute walk away from the Sundhöllin baths. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. Edda, the owner, was friendly, accommodating, and attentive to our needs. She was extremely generous... More

We stayed 2 nights with Edda and Runar, who are great hosts and who have made a really cosy place to stay. This is not a posh, faceless hotel. Breakfast is taken at a long communal table in the art-filled dining room next to the kitchen, and is buffet style, with homemade bread and everything you could wish for. It's... More

Lovely interiors with original artwork everywhere; Icelandic hospitality and helpfulness of host and staff; coziness of home and room , including Ragnar the Cat, practical location by "The Big Church", drop off and pick up by airport shuttle upon request, delicious and abundant food choices for breakfast with enough to pack a lunch as well, instant tea and coffee in-... The guesthouse is right behind Hallgrimskirkja, which makes it very easy to find wherever you are in town. The owners are very friendly and made me feel very welcome. (Thank you again so much for the Christmas experience and that you taught me not to breathe while eating fermented shark.) The house is full of art, be it paintings or... More
