A very friendly and welcoming guesthouse. The rooms I stayed in was basic but warm and comfortable. It is located in a quiet area near the main church which is a great landmark that can be seen from most of the city so it's very hard to get lost. The main shopping and tourist areas are 5-10 minutes walk away.... More

After 24 hours in the air, jumping into a rental car at the airport and heading out into the dark, all we wanted was a warm bed and bath. Eric the Red provided all that and more. The guesthouse was a tad difficult to locate, given that it was our first venture into Iceland. But having stayed at 7 different... More

Firstly, I would like to start this review by saying that the owners of this guesthouse are fantastic. Even though we were only there for 4 nights this guesthouse made the world of difference! In a short space of time we were made to feel at home and part of the family. With a yummy breakfast served everyday (although we... More

From the minute the hosts Edda and Runar welcome you through the door, you realise you have found a home away from home. Edda cannot do enough for you and is helpful from booking restaurants, tours, and local knowledge to lovely chats over coffee and the home baking! I never stay anywhere else as Eric the Red is all I... More

We stayed in the apartment for four days in Sept 2014. When we arrived at the guesthouse to pick up our keys to the apartment we were pleasantly surprised by being invited to join in a wonderful breakfast.Just what we needed after travelling all night! They drove us to the apartment and gave us some very helpful tips on the... More

We had a appartment not far from the Guesthouse. The landlady was going out off her way to help us get setteld in. She was also verry helpfull every time we called her with questions. The appartment was warm and cosy, and the beds were god. There was a fatastisk view over Reykjavik. Even though the appartment was on the... More

Our flight arrived at Keflavik at 6am and we arrived at the guesthouse very early in the morning - it was still dark, around 8am. Rang the door bell couple of times before a woman answered the door. It looked like we woke her up. No matter, she invited us in and offered us a breakfast even though our reservation... More

After arriving in Reykjavik on an early morning flight, my friends and I headed to Eric the Red Guesthouse, exhausted and hungry. Although our reservation was for that evening, Edda and Runar welcomed us in and invited us to join them for breakfast. What a wonderful way to start our vacation! That evening, we asked Runar for some restaurant recommendations.... More

I had two wonderful nights in Erikur's house! My hosts were very nice and arranged my room to change it into a single room. I had a great time at breakfast talking about Erik the Red and Viking culture with my hosts. The salmon and hot cereals were delicious (though French people generally don't eat them ;-) ).My hosts really... More

me and my brother stayed @ Eric the Red for 4 nights. it was perfectly located (few minutes from the city centre), clean, and comfortable. The owners were nice. Breakfast was ok, lots of choices though always the same every day. I would definetely recommend the place, also for its price.
