We checked in and left after an hour.. It's a shame the bottle of tequila in reception is empty. Really. Ended up being charged 10% more than we were quoted on the site. Vickingur is an passable guesthouse and the cheapest we found at Reykjavik. It is close to the center and around 20-30 minutes walking to the bus station. Good points: close to city centre in a quiet neighbourhood Points for improvement: Initially looked reasonably priced but when adding all the additional basically hidden costs listed in the lobby of the guest house (photos) this becomes an expensive place to stay for the quality the traveller gets. Having only read the reviews after I had come home, I definitely agree with many people here when they say this place is to be warned about. I stayed at the vikingur hotel for one night before heading to other parts of iceland. The hotel was well located, just approximately 5 - 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Having stayed here and having read many TripAdvisor reviews AFTER staying here, I think there must have been a management and staff change.
