having read all positive reviews - i was slightly disappointed with the entire experience overall. it all was OK but not as exceptional as some reviewers have noted. location is brilliant. thats i agree with. breakfast is ok, their eating facilities are a bit too over crowded and crampy. but overall - clean and neat. no problem there.

Stayed here before and after a trek. The location is about 10 mins up hill from the main Bus terminal and maybe 5 from the main church. The Flybus from the Reykjavik airport can drop and pick you here, with a transfer at the BSI. Pretty, residential area. The room I was in had a shared bathroom but that was... More

The guesthouse is well located near the main church. The rooms are basic but comfortable, there are kitchens attached to every 4 rooms, breakfast and laundry facilities are provided. Airport transfers can be purchased from the guesthouse with pickup outside.

Aurora Guesthouse in Rekjyvick, iceland is not up to parr. The management of the Aurora needs to take some hospitality classes. They do not greet travels in a positive manner. We were given a piece of paper to where our room was. It was not even in the same building or the same street that the main building was on.The... More

Great location near church in centre of town. Rooms are split over 3 buildings so may vary - I stayed in two parts & was very happy with both rooms & facilities. Clean & reasonably spacious plus there was a shared kitchen in at least one of the buildings. I thought the black out blinds worked well. Very friendly &... More

This place isn't excellent in the way a $200+ hotel might be, but for the price in Reyjkavik it was very nice. I booked a single room with shared bath. It was around the corner in another building from the main reception, and was small but exceptionally clean with newer linens, a clean room and the shared bathroom was also... More

The main "plus" here is that the staff are genuinely kind and friendly and really go out of their way to try to help. They let me drop a bag there a whole day before I arrived, and they arranged Blue Lagoon and airport pick ups for me. I had a small 'blip' with them in that I arrived for... More

Arrive at breakfast at around 7:30, and you did well to find a seat - at least that was the case in early June 2014. The owner could scarcely keep up with cutting tomatoes and cucumbers (you peel your own eggs and slice your own bread), while guests waited patiently to pour themselves tea or coffee, before searching for that... If you are shopping for a place less than $150US, this place should be a strong contender. One of the nicest shared bathrooms we had in Iceland! Breakfast was good and you could NOT beat the location. You literally are a stone's throw from the church.

The rooms at Guesthouse Aurora are good sized compared to other guesthouses I stayed in around Iceland. Bathrooms are shared, which is pretty common. The location is great - it's only a couple blocks to Hallgrimskirkja and the center of the city. That does mean that there can be some noise late in the evening, but I didn't find that... More
