I have stayed at this hotel for reindeer and goose hunting several times. This years visit was August 22-24 2014. The hotel has many benefits. The location is great, rooms are very clean and comfortable and staff is friendly. However, I have to mention the restaurant and in particular both breakfast and the wild game buffet. On the Saturday evening... More

This hotel is in a very isolated location which probably accounts for some of its problems. There was no TV (maybe because none was available?) and the wifi was so slow as to be virtually unusable. It is built a bit like a barracks. Many Icelandic hotels seem to have this design. The room was quite big and functionally adequate.... More

Although there is a new wing to the hotel, the room my wife and I were in had a slow draining sink and a falling-down shower curtain in the bathroom. The service at the desk was either nonexistent or very poor. We asked for help with our bathroom...nothing. We asked to be moved to the new wing which had many... More

We did not stay at this hotel - which is built in the rather bland style of Skandinavian youth hostels - but had a surprisingly good lunch here, almost like a small tasting menu with lots of different bite-sized delicacies made from local ingredients. Not at all what we expected given the charmless room and the fact that this was... More

We visited this hotel and stayed for one night. It caters for coach parties and individual families and couples. The situation is good, just off route one. There are not very many options between jokulsarlon and hofn so choice is very limited, probably explains why this hotel was very busy. Rooms are somewhat basic but met our needs. The shower... More

We visited this property while visiting Iceland and were treated to an amazing lunch well prepared and served by very friendly staff. Some in our group were vegetarian and their needs were accommodated beautifully This property is very remote for sure and you don't have a lot of choices but you can't go wrong stopping here.

1. Location - well located 2. value for money - too expensive for the service like everything else in Iceland 3. View - Brilliant - could see the mist rising from the sea in late nights 4. Parking - ample 5. Sleep quality - brilliant 6. Wifi - though they promise free wifi you do not get connection in your... More

We stayed here for one night on our day 4 of our 12 day trip around Iceland. We picked this place due to its proximity to the glacier lagoon and the glacier jet ski tour. It is a very simple and large hotel which caters to many groups. Our room was on the second floor of the main building. To... More

+ Lobster as starter is excellent - No water in the morning for more than 1 hour (leading to no shower, no washing, no coffee, no tea and just juice as emergency breakfast drinks) - Poor TV signal and quality - Very slow internet connection due to poor router capabilities

The accommodation is motel style but clean tidy and much more than your everyday motel. Why stay here ? A big factor is the value, if you want to stay in Hofn you are going to pay a lot lot more for not so much more. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful. We got lost on the way... More
