The hotel is very special. We've just stayed at one of the cottages during the viking festival and it really feels like being in the old viking times. Worth visiting for a different experience. Easy to go from Reykjavic, bus number 1 leaves you next door. Memorable!

From the review, this hotel seems a very interesting hotel. However, it is much more disappointing than I can expect. The description of the room is 'Spacious room that features a seating area, tea/coffee facilities and harbour views'. However, it is so small that after having 2 small beds and a small table, there is almost no room remained (by... More

We stayed in one of the cottages for one night on our arrival in Iceland. It was clean and the room was fine for our family. It was quite quirky but as expected for a themed hotel. Breakfast was fine - bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, fish etc. We also ate in the restaurant while we were there, which was pleasant... More

The room here was great value - we paid about £50 per night for a whole chalet. Our first night was disturbed for an hour by a random disco in the building opposite but it was only 10-10.30pm maybe so we didn't really mind. The breakfast was good - great variety & the room was beautiful. All brand new, gorgeous... More

It's cute in a tacky sort of way. The dinner was quite good and everyone dresses like Vikings. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was marginal...bread, yogurt, fish, and canned fruit. There is a hot tub, but it is crammed in the back and more of an afterthought. I had a single room. Huge mistake. It was more like... More

We were let down by another hotel on our last day of our honeymoon in Iceland. We found the Viking Hotel on Late Rooms and managed to book it at short notice. We booked a Superior Double room what looked very nice. On arrival we checked in and was given the key to what was a very small room (didn't... More

I wanted to add a little extra after our Iceland tour and before going home, so I picked a cottage. We got a very large and clean room. We really loved the decoration. We tried the restaurant as well (Icelandic food: why do they have to add jam to almost every dish?) which had fine food. For us it just... More

I stayed at the hotel during low season - not many guests which may explain the bad service. Most of the time there's no one at the reception desk which I personally find a bit annoying. The breakfast is poor, it doesn't really taste good.. Also, I found a dirty sock in my room...more focus on cleaning is neccesary. The... More

I would recommend this hotel for the fun loving traveler who enjoy doing something different. This is a great Viking Theme hotel, complete with a small Viking museum, and large Viking theme restaurants and bar. All staff wear traditional viking garb. All good fun, and only a short bus ride to Reykjavik. Lovely view of the harbour. Me and my... More
