Provided you do not mind leaving your shoes at the entrance you get reasonable and clean accomodations for the night. Excellent shower upstairs, fair on main floor. Dining areas in basement and upstairs where you can cook and store in fridges. Super market accross the street. At least three bus stops close by. Bus rides are free and provide excellent... More

Visited at the very beginning of August 2013 - 2 adults + 1 child aged 14 - No smoking family - ca. EUR 200 / night with booking.com - They have several locations in Akureyri so that you should thoroughly check the exact location as described (not always) in each review otherwise you might have a surprise (good or bad)... By far, this was the cheapest accommodation we booked in Iceland. We stayed at the Klettastigur building. We had a private room with shared bath and kitchen. The reception was very friendly and helpful, and the guesthouse itself was immaculate. No problem with wifi. About a 10 minute walk downhill to the city center. Would not hesitate to recommend for... I actually stayed in a studio flat, not the actual guesthouse although I checked in there. The apartment has lots of amenities such as washing machine, microwave, oven hob, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, front garden with space for parking. It also had a TV set although showing just one channel, mostly in Icelandic. It was clean and less than 10... More

I stayed with my parents, and was pleased to have a very clean, tidy and organised kitchen next to our room. The place is small so you feel almost like home, the bathroom was also near to our room and clean and spacious. When we left to have breakfast after our stay, my father forgot his phone charger in the... More

Pros: Quiet, curtains and blinds in the windows, 2 rooms per bathroom, free washer/dryer (but small), free parking, good wifi Cons: A bit far from city center.

This guesthouse was booked for my party of 8 by an Icelandic colleague. Having read the reviews I was alarmed but it turned out to be perfectly acceptable. We did have to check in at the hotel down the road and there is no one on duty at the guesthouse to consult with. Having said that the rooms that we... More

Noisy guesthouse, right off a main highway. Small dingy rooms. Owner was a total jerk who demanded my passport number, and then threatened to deny me accommodation if I refused. He said it was 'illegal' for a Canadian to not provide a passport number. Condescending and rude, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for my entire stay. My advice: find another place... More

It was quiet and the bed was comfortable, which was positive, but beyond that... Tiny room, felt way too budget. No real reception (you had to call to get in and they came with the key--at least when we arrived). Breakfast was included but not at the building...you had to go to another hotel! Was ok for us though, since... More

During my vacation in Iceland I booked a single room for one night at the guesthouse “Sulur Gistiheimili” in Akureyri in the afternoon of 06/14/07. I had driven about five hours from the south of Iceland to Akureyri, a town in the north. I was then very tired and therefore booked the abovementioned room to spend the night there. At... More
