Stayed at a couple Edda's while in Iceland and this one was the best. Great location with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Stayed here 2 nights. Breakfast was the usual European continental fare. Did not have dinner here because the kids wanted something different but other guests told us that their dinners were great. At around 19:00... more

The Edda hotel offers modern, small, pricey rooms. It is located in the middle of Arkureyri, close to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was very good. Our room had a tv with more than five tv channels (which is not common in icelandic hotels), including a german channel. Parking spaces at the hotel are limited but you can park at the... more

Edda hotels are boarding schools converted into a hotel in the summer. We stayed one night in early July 2008. This one was one of the best Edda hotels we had in iceland. It is a very modern one, that seems to be built with the hotel function in mind. Opened in 2006. It is located above the town, about... more

We stayed in Edda for a night during our trip in Iceland. Edda Akureyri is an old school-college and everything, from the toilets to the decoration is in that mood. Not bad but I had the feeling that i was spending the night in an Orphanage. On the other hand the hotel is well located, the rooms and the shared... more

Very basic rooms in a school building. The rooms in our part of the building were on a very echoey corridor. Any noise in the corridor is magnified by a million times, so the amount of sleep you get entirely depends on how considerate the other guests are. More so than in most hotels. We didn't have too many problems... more

The hotel is located on a hill above Akureyri city centre, just 5 minutes walking. it has a large parking for free and that's very good. The room was quite big, but in the little kitchen there was no cutlery, plates or glasses!!! The bathroom had no soap dispenser and they gave to us only one (too little) soap gel.... more

I was very dubious when I realised that we (me and two adolescent sons) had been booked into student accommodation that is converted into a hotel over the Summer...but we were very pleasantly surprised. The accommodation is split into two categories - 2* one side, and 3* in a more modern building on the other side. The twin rooms in... more

Just returned from a 2 week Fly drive in Iceland, where we stayed in Akureyi for one night. As a family of 4 with teenagers, we booked two rooms in the Summer Hotel, which is actually the school accomdation at the High School. Our twin rooms were with shared facilities, with very few toilet and shows at the end of... more

The Edda hotel chain is college accommodation in term time. The location is fine, in a nice residential area uphill from the town centre, and next door to the (free) Botanical Gardens. Our room was very large, rather utiliterian in feel, but understandable given it's double-existance as college halls. It was spotless however, and it had tea and coffee making... more
