Of the 12 hotels we stayed at in Iceland, this was our least favourite. As other have mentioned, the impersonal service turned us off. We had called ahead because we weren't going to be arriving until nearly 8pm, so someone met us there. It felt as though our tour was rushed, and he handed us the key and ran out... More

The whole B&B is clean and nicely decorated, with warm colors and decorations. It also has a huge kitchen, where you can prepare all your meals. You should at least use it to prepare your breakfast because the one you can buy at the B&B is definately not worth the money (2000 ISK per person). The B&B is situated in... More

I'm here and this place is soo far from the 4 stars given on this site. Did they paid for it? Yes the furniture is nice but... Just one bathroom for more than 10 rooms which means at least 20 people. It's clean ok but you have to wait your turn for an indefinite time. When you're alone in the... More

The email correspondence -- and the reviews -- led me to look forward to a quality stay, but unfortunately that's not the case. Not only was I put into the smallest single room possible -- truly, you couldn't open the door all the way without banging into either the bed or the chair or the suitcase, and there was nothing... The guest house Gula Villan is very nice and clean. The people were friendly and helpfull. A good place for families. The kitchen and dining room were nice. Gula Villan is situated in the center of Akureyri.

We were in the original building, right by the "town square". It is just blocks from everything you'd need in Akureyri (Main Street, church, pool, waterfront, restaurants). The grocery stores/supermarkets are a bit further away, but you wouldn't want housing near them, as you'd be far from everything. The room was on the smaller side, nicely decorated, and in good... A sgreat guest house - good location almost on the main shopping street, excellent shared kitchen, nice rooms and bathroom. The only downside is that there's only one bathroom so if the guest house is full (which it wasn't) you may have to queue for a shower. Its by far the cheapest place we've stayed in in Iceland and represented... More

the price was not too bad considering that it's located in the centre of Akureyri, but the room we had was not very comfortable. it was exactly under the common area, the noise from above was really annoying and loud. I had the impression that they wanted to get an extra room without having the right place for it. It... More

We stayed one night in June 2014 in a private "double" bed. Room: Our room was a private double room (with two twin beds unable to be pushed together), right next to the door and the street. It was clean with nightstands and a mirror. We had the sleeping bag option and beds were comfortable with nice pillows. Bathroom: The... More

The location is great, and sparse is the norm, but of all the places we've stayed so far, this is our least favorite. Although it's in a more residential area, it was amazingly loud--the sounds of traffic float right up the hill. For a sleeping bag accommodation, it was only slightly cheaper than places we've stayed with full amenities. No... More
