This was the best accomodation we had in Iceland during our round trip around the island. So, what should I say about this almost perfect guesthouse... The location is quite ideal, if you are traveling by car. Akureyri is just a short drive away, but still the prevailing character of the surroundings is the magnificent nature of Iceland. You can... The stay at Skjaldarvik was one of the highlights of our entire trip to Iceland. So peaceful and lovely. Normally we would choose a central hotel, with pubs, shops and cultural life within walking distance, but when traveling with children this place was perfect. We used the hot pot/outdoor warm bath tub a LOT - it was fantastic. We didn't... More

We usually don't stay at a guesthouse, but we chose this place based on the price and reviews because we found other hotel options to be limited in Akureyri. We were very glad we did. The guesthouse itself is very cute, and much thought has been put into its decor. Rooms are clean, and comfortable enough, albeit small. The only... More

This was my favorite day and stay of our trip around the Ring Road. We spent the day whale watching and eating the best fish and chips ever in Husavik, then hit the sulfur baths, some bubbling mud pots. That was plenty. Then we headed to Akureyri and the Guest House. We made it at 4:50pm, just enough time to... More

When reading Tripadvisor negative reviews I almost did not book there. What a mistake it would have been! We did not experience any of the issues mentioned. We found large (specially for Iceland) luminous rooms, cleverly re-used old material (a door made in a table, a jean in a cushion) and quirky nice details everywhere. A lovable and well loved... We spent 1 night at SkjaldarvikGuesthouse. Very welcoming place, lovely beds, excellwnt breakfast and they even squeezed us in for dinner (we hadn't booked) which was delicious. We didn't partake of the horse riding but I was able to go see the horses, and you can wander the property as you like. I can recommend it as a place to... More

My husband and I stayed for one night here (July 2014) as we traveled around the country. Incredibly cute decor. Probably one of the best decorated spots I've ever stayed. Great atmosphere. Total cost for our stay: $250 usd. this included 2 dinner entrees the night we arrived, 2 appetizers and 2 breakfasts (breakfasts are included in room fee) -Bed's... More

We stayed one night on our way East around the island. Wish we could have stayed longer. The people were great, the breakfast was excellent. The honor bar was much appreciated (for soft drinks as well as beer). Plenty of indoor space to check out, board games, puzzles, etc and a telescope to look at the abundant birds. We couldn't... We arrived after midnight and there was still someone on duty. They have an honor bar so we could also still get drinks. Beautiful place! Easy to find and very comfortable. Huge. Got lost walking around the place at night. Loved it!

Love this hotel, such a beautiful place. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms, clean and comfortable. Excellent facilities, bathrooms clean and fully stocked. Comfortable communal areas, spacious and have handy things like books, tv, toys, jigsaws, cards, even a large telescope to view the fjord! (and a trust based bar, with local drinks) and a great complimentary hot drinks (even... More
