Love this hotel, such a beautiful place. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms, clean and comfortable. Excellent facilities, bathrooms clean and fully stocked. Comfortable communal areas, spacious and have handy things like books, tv, toys, jigsaws, cards, even a large telescope to view the fjord! (and a trust based bar, with local drinks) and a great complimentary hot drinks (even... More

Having slightly misjudged the traveling time to get from Reykjavik to Akureyri (by way of Pingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss in the morning), we were one set of weary travellers by the time we turned off Route 1 a few kilometres outside Akureyri. But we were soon forgetting the cares of our long and tiring journey, as we settled in to... More

Very beautiful place surrounded by nature. Rooms and interior are very tastefully decorated with an artistic feeling and a romantic heart :-) So much eye for details! Food is more than great, even for veggitarians...hot tub with a perfect view, 2 lovely sweet dogs and a lot of horses are included in the price! Jojo

Disa and Oli the owners of Skjaldarvik have put their hearts and souls in creating a restful retreat for travelers. Skjaldarvik is located just outside the town of Akuryeri and my husband and I stayed for one night last week. Since we drove in past midnight, Disa had ensured that there was a lovely note for us with clear notes... More

This place was cute. They did nice decorations. The towels were abundant. They need bigger windows to open because it got quite warm at night, but the beds were comfy and we slept well. There is a shade over the window for the light and there isn't much noise. They have a great hot tub out back open until 11... More

This is such a fabulous and odd little find. It's right outside of town and right on the water in the countryside giving it fabulous views. It's a pretty large B&B all decorated in a very artistic shabby chic manner. Our room had a little couch with some chairs as well as a sink which was great. Bathrooms were shared... More

There's not much I can add to the lavish praise that has been heaped on this guesthouse, other than to day it's all true. The guesthouse was previously an aged care home - you can see from the design and layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms - and has been exquisitely renovated. Now, it's a subtle merging of institutional design... More

We were only going to be here one night but got snowed in so we got to stay for an extra night. It is a gorgeous place!!! so artistic and creative. The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. Wonderful breakfast (with homemade jams that were to die for!!!). Friendly owners and gorgeous views. The outside hotspring was wonderful on a... More

We stayed there for two nights. Loved the yummy breakfast. :). We felt very relaxed while we were there. We visited the lovely horses and played with the dogs. They were super friendly. We took loads of photos around the guest house. The host was super nice. She made us feel very welcome and we truly enjoyed our stay a... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Skjaldarvik Guesthouse in July for 5 days. Although there are a number of places in Akureyri, we decided to make this our "base camp" as we visited the surrounding areas within a couple hours' drive, so we wouldn't be concerned about finding accommodations in the evening. This is a lovely guesthouse run by a... More
