We stayed for thee nights, so glad the hotel was excellent as the weather wasn't. A beautiful view over the fjord, which was covered in snow. Excellent food, although a bit expensive, although expected that in Iceland. Very warm and comfortable, we enjoyed the hot tubs which we reached through the wind and snow. Would have liked to have seen... More

I had read that Hotel Glymur was top end, and they don't exaggerate. Set on a hillside with commanding views of the fjord, it is quite lovely. The weather was just picking up after a previous storm, so we probably didn't actually see it at its best but I cannot fault the staff friendliness, service or the restaurant and food... More

We stayed here on the last night of our Iceland trip after a very long drive from our previous hotel via the F338 under the Langjokull glacier. The rooms are quite small and the beds and bedding really uncomfortable - not traditional Nordic bedding and you can tell the difference. Views across Hvalfjordur breathtaking and the hot tub is great... More

We stayed for one night only in a standard room - rooms on two floors with mezzanine for beds - two of the slimmest twin beds I have ever seen - dated furnishings and strange mix of modern office world style furniture with 'traditional' items - footstools and tiny cushions etc. The hotel uses the Reykjavik model for water (35%... Really a great place to clear the mind and appreciate life. Don't expect high class, just expect wonderful views and great company Food is basic hearty and full of flavour the wine appears to act more quickly ;-) Will come here again with family

Very nice hotel with a great view, spacious rooms, great hot-tubs and friendly staff. Dinner was very tasty and breakfast with a lot of choices. There was a group of maybe 25 scientist having a meeting and they had a good size conference room, plus alcoves all over for smaller meetings. I have two minor complaints: The bread served with... A small hotel, situated above a beautiful fjord - a few nights stay here made our holiday to Iceland. We booked a suite in the hotel, and there appeared to be smaller separate chalets dotted around that could be rented - but otherwise no other structure was in sight. Although not difficult to find, it felt remote and tranquil. The... More

Our family group stayed for 4 nights in a one-bedroom lodge with a huge living/dining/kitchen area, and a two-bedroom lodge next door with smaller living area. Both were just great - floor to ceiling windows the length of the lodge with the most magnificent views over the fjord and mountains. They were extremely comfortable, spacious, tastefully furnished, very warm and... More

We booked one of the self catering villas - which all have hot tubs. Great villa, great view. Highly recommended. The weather was great and the hot tubs perfect for sitting in whilst the aurora shows (which it did for two of the four nights we stayed there). I've given a review of only 4 out of 5 for Glymur... We stayed one night here on our way up to Grundarfjorddur. The hotel staff could not have done more to make us feel welcome .The food/ dinner was of the highest standard. Delicious lamb in particular. There was a violent storm in the night and we were told that it was too dangerous to drive due to the very high winds and... More
