Jun 26, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I like other people who stayed here had mixed reviews of the hotel. Two friends and i were sharing a room at the Omena for our trip to Helsinki for the Helldone festival. One of my friends ended up not being able to make the trip due to an injury. Even down to two of us, it was a bit... more

We visited Helsinki as part of our Europe tour. We choose the hotel primarily for its price. The concept is cool too - when you book a room you get a code which you need to enter to access the room. The location is great too near the Kamppi Centre which is also the metro station and is 3 minutes... more

We flew Finnair and decided to stop-over at Helsinki for 2 days on our way back to India. We choose Omena primarily for its rates and the concept of no people in hotel! They give you a code once you book the hotel and thats all you need. Just enter the code at the entrance door and for the room... more

I stayed in Omena hotel on Eerikinkatu in November 2008. I do agree with most of the reviewers - the rooms are ok, the prices are very friendly (especially if you book well in advance), location superb. Since there is no breakfast buffet, I really appreciated the opportunity to make coffee and use the microwave in my room. However, I... more

I liked the idea of a hotel without people. Check-in was really quick - enter door code and go straight to the room! No queueing. The microwave and fridge and TV are great. I stayed for 5 nights in Helsinki and have just a couple of grumbles: 1. Paper and plastic disposable cups. With internet and flat panel TV, can't... more

I agree with previous reviews. The rooms are great. Clean, modern, great bed etc. The bathroom is small but ok. The fridge and microwave saved us some money as we had lunch in the room rather than eating out in expensive Helsinki! Also it was very quiet. My concern really is (maybe I'm showing my age here...) is that I... more

July 10-14 2008 There were 8 of us in 3 rooms at the Omena Hotel in Helsinki. My husband and I were in one room which was plenty big enough, the same for our daughter and his sister. However, our other daughter, husband and 2 children 11, 16 were quite cramped. I would say that if you had 2 young... more

We stayed at the Omena Hotel for 3 nights with a baby and a toddler. I had searched for budget accommodation in Helsinki using the Trip Advisor website and decided that we would give it a go. We were very impressed with many things about the Omena. As mentioned in previous reviews the room was meticulously clean and housed a... more

I won't add to the list of good things about the Omena chain, but I will say that if I were a single woman, I might feel a little uncertain. It is a slightly scary prospect walking into the Omena. It's like walking into an office building after hours. The hallways are deserted. There's no lobby. The elevators are tiny.... more

This is an excellent idea. An unmanned hotel, rooms which are kitted out to an excellent standard and cheap! The room cormprises adequate storage for clothes, a double bed which is very comfortable, a microwave, kettle (with basic tea/coffee), fridge as well as internet tv, shower room with toilettries. Excellent value for money, in a similar style to a travel... more
