This characterful hotel is located in a former 19c. prison, and has been tastefully modernised to 4* standard, whilst still retaining many period features. Tariffs are very competitive and bedrooms are spacious and well-equipped, with a large flat-screen TV, mini-bar and room-safe. Bathrooms are modern and equally spacious. Wi-Fi reception in the room was poor (no doubt due to the... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of May 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The hotel is situated an easy 10 minute walk from the market square where you'll find souvenir stalls, local handmade knitted items, and an abundance of different Finnish foods for sale. It is also a 20 minute walk from the main railway station... More

Absolutely loved our stay at Best Western Katajanokka. Really friendly and helpful staff, comfy bed, excellent shower with under floor heating, tea and coffee facilities in the room and a mini bar. Breakfast was included and was plentiful and delicious (sausages, meats, cheeses, eggs, bread, porridge, fruit, coffee machine etc). Wifi is a bit of a problem because the rooms... More

We visited Helsinki for the very first time and must say that it was truly an enjoyable and satisfying trip. We did some hotel research beforehand and went with the Best Western Premier Hotel and could not have been more satisfied. Location was great, situated in a quiet residential area just several blocks east from Market Square with a #4... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the Best Western, the architecture is really interesting. It's a fascinating history with it's resent conversion from prison to hotel. You can still really see all the features of the prison which added to our stay in Helsinki. My advise for anyone not familiar with Helsinki, check a map before you hit the centre... More

we stayed at the hotel from 3. to 6. april 2015 and we were very satisfied with the hotel. But on 11.5.2015 we got the information from the bank that they doubt we payed the same amount of 411 € again for some travelling and spent 2 times 200 € in casino in London. The bank made a research and... More

Dear Monika P, I’m delighted that you enjoyed your stay and I am truly sorry for your credit card trouble. As discussed by email with our Business Controller, the copying of your card must have happened someplace else. You used the card only once, at our reception. There the card is always in full view of the customer and a... More

Stayed for 2 nights recently. The hotel is the upscale district of Katajanokka, which means that getting to it is a slight issue. But the check in staff was very friendly, and gave us our rooms 6 hours in advance. Good restaraunts nearby as well. Rooms are big and clean. Good experience overall and recommended.

The Hotel was a prison. The corridors still retain the original features. The restaurant (where breakfast is served) looks like a movie set... Plates and metal mugs, low light... The rooms are large, but the bathrooms could have improved showers... The rooms do not have internet connection. The Hotel is very close to the Port of Helsinki and near the... More

It is located in a former prision building which sound as a cool idea , but actually it is not fully developped. However the services and comfort are good. Breakfast is functional. Wifi signal is very weak in the rooms. Location is good enough and there is tram stop on the very door of hotel.

Staying in Hotel Katajanokka is a truly different experience because this hotel is a former prison turned into a hotel with its luxurious service. You will notice it immediately once you walked to the direction of the hotel, the thick red brick wall around said it all, and wait until you see the corridors. Location is pretty much perfect, in...
