The old Nokka jail is a perfect place to spend some days in charming Helsinki. It's perfectly located in a walking distance to the city facillities and offers nice rooms with a extraordinary good breakfast. If we also mention good hospitality and service minded staff we can't ask for more. This is the place to stay!

On the quiet island adjacent to Helsinki's main shopping district, is this fascinating early 19th c. prison transformed into a lovely hotel. Pleasant restaurant downstairs, bar outside, and best of all within walking distance to the outdoor market and covered kaupehalle. What a pleasant surprise.

Although this was only a one night stopover we loved this hotel - the old prison made it memorable to us. The staff were so friendly, rooms very comfortable, Wi-Fi great in receptions areas (not so good in rooms because of thick prison walls) and our nighttime meal in the restaurant was very pleasing. The gentleman who was in charged... More

A very comfortable hotel, high quality and good location is other advantages. You can reach the hotel easily from Helsinki central square(next to train station) by tram or walking. Service was very good. And hotel is thematic and has a nice restaurant.

This would be a perfect place to stay if the wifi worked in the rooms. We stayed on the ground floor in room 245. We had to go up the corridor or use the breakfast room to access the internet. The walls in many of the rooms are too thick for the wifi to work. We actually found this to... More

This hotel is an old prison and the rooms are the old cells. A good fun experience. Expensive, but hey lets live a little occasionally. All the artifacts are here to see Room very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent Position near the sea front was good and the tram was outside the prison walls. I will save up and... More

This hotel is new to Helsinki, opening in 2007 after we no longer lived there. Its situated on the Number 4 tram route and is 20 minute walk from the City Centre. Our room was made up of 2 cells knocked together. Was still quite bijou and the hotel is probably not suitable for very long stays. They have kept... More

We revisited this hotel and found it as good as it had been last year. The hotel used to be a prison, and it retains its original structure while the cells have been converted into very comfortable and quiet rooms (the thick walls, however, make getting online a bit difficult in some rooms). A high brick wall around the hotel... More

The hotel used to be a high security prison. Now trendy, classy and welcoming with some of its original features. Great location, comfortable, spacious and clean rooms and friendly staff. Shame the windows in the bedroom could not open.Missed having some fresh air. Specially overnight. Breakfast was good but could have a better selection of hot foods, cereals, yoghurts, cheese... This restored prison is now a hotel. The architects did a good job making it modern, and at the same time preserving it's prison architecture and details. The staff is very friendly and always kind and available. We upgraded to a larger room with view to the patio - very comfortable and pleasant. Nice shower. Have breakfast in the old... More
