Our tour of the Baltic states started with Helsinki as our gateway city. I booked the Sokos Torni on a whim not really knowing much about hotel options in Helsinki. Despite staying only one night here, it turned out to be quite a pleasant stay. Built in 1931, the hotel was the tallest structure in all of Finland at the... more

My clients raved about the Kämp and it looks impressive indeed. Apart from that, Torni is the best hotel experience I had in Helsinki. Perfect, central yet quiet location, large and well equipped rooms, wonderful huge and comfortable bed, great breakfast and generally good ambience and service. However the hotel can feel a bit crowded as capacity is limited in... more

Torni has a long history, being Helsinki's first high-rise building (I hesitate to use the word skyscraper). It was built in the early '30's and was used by the Russians from 1944-1947. According to their literature the most recent refresh/remodel was in 2006. The hotel has a bit of a cramped feeling, mostly due to it's very stolid architecture. This... more

The first time I went to Helsinki, I passed the Hotel Torni on a stroll around town and thought, "if I ever come back here, that's where I'm staying" - just on the basis of its location and history alone. I liked Helsinki enough to return less than a year later (although I liked the city less second time round),... more

Stayed here for business travel. Very central location with everything you need to see easily accessible. Good value and good quality room, although a little small and a bit noisy. Great bar at the top with amazing views, even in the pouring rain! Recommended. more

The SOKOS Torni is the only skyscraper in central Helsinki and the view from the Atelje bar on 14th floor is smashing. Business people will appreciate the location close to the railway and bus station as well as to Mannerheim Street and Esplanaadi (harbour). We stayed 4 nights in an Art Deco room kept in black and white, which was... more

We booked here for our first night in Finland as we were able to get a very good rate with Airmiles. The staff were friendly but the room was very small though adequate. The roof-top bar is a must see and why we remembered the place. Breakfast was above average for Finland. The old lift to the lower floors was... more

Was in Helsinki for business. The Sokos Torni is downtown, walking distance to many places. Historic building, restored, nice details kept, like an old elevator. Can recommend staying there. more

Would normally consider the Torni to be slightly out of my budget but, having got a good rate from GTA, wanted to give it a try - particularly having heard about the views from the top floor bar. Found the service good - reception, bar and restaurant staff were very attentive. Single room was small (they often are) but was... more

This hotel is within easy walking distance of the main shopping streets and city centre. Staff are friendly and obliging. Helsinki was only an overnight stop enroute to St Petersbug but it was so lovely we wished we had spent several days there. more
