Hotel Merihovi has seen better days The hotel is very old fashioned and perhaps could do with a makeover. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and the room was clean. There was also a very good buffet breakfast included in the room rate. The rooms were dated however with very heavy old furniture and very tired fittings.... More

The hotel premises are nice, the interior is based on old-fashioned style. The english style breakfast was ok, nothing superb but good standard enough. Room styles are from 1950's -1960's and in my case, I like that style a lot.

I stayed at the Hotel Merihvoi from March 18 - March 22, 2014. It was a short easy walk from the rail station with my 22" roller bag. My room on the 4th floor was large and comfortable with a mini bar and facilities to make tea or coffee. The front desk staff was very helpful and answered any and... More

Location is good - 10 minute walking distance from the railway station. Friendly staff. There is an elevator in the hotel, but at least when staying on second floor, be prepared to carry your luggage through a few steps, hard-to-keep-open doors. The furnishing and decor is a bit dated - while it could be part of the style or "character"... More

It`s a simple rather bland hotel but it has it pluses - like quite a good restaurant with good Italian wine ( Ripasso -Valpolicella 2010 ,Zenato) ,a supermarket just across the street and the Snow castle -around 800 meters away

Merihovi has a character of the good old days. I guess it's quite exceptional what comes to reasonable priced hotels in Finland. Breakfast was excellent and beds were comfy. Down stairs there is nice bar called Ankkuri. If you are afraid of getting bored, you can go there to listen live music (weekends). I've been there twice (summer 2013, december... More

I stayed for one night at Hotel Merihovi during a recent business trip to Kemi. I had an excellent stay! The staff was friendly and professional, both in the restaurant and reception. It is true that the hotel has a feel of "old grandeur", but it has not been left in decay. A lot of of the furniture (not the... More

As we enter the hotel we can see that it is an old jewel left in decay. It gives a sence of sadness seeing such good old decoration completly negleted. The cleaning was bad: the carpets full of stains; the walls, the windows, the tiles in the bathroom were dirty... At breakfast, although it had lots of choices, that I... More

We stayed one night in Merihovi hotel, it was very good. We had a small suite with our own sauna, which was great. The room was rather big, the furniture was old but this was really cool, we liked it. The restaurant and the breakfast were both good. The hotel is located in the center and there are free parking... This hotel is the part of Kemi´s history. It´s the oldest hotel in town. Like all old buildings there are few things you have to use to. For excample rooms are quite small and in the summer time they can be very hot too. For that, ask the room that is not located to west. The breakfast is average and... More
