The hotel is nicely located and has the atmosphere of the past, which in this case is a charming matter. The staff both at the reception, cleaning and breakfast are very attentive and go for an extra mile for you. The room was quite worn out and the bathroom very small to use. No amenities available in the room, only... More

In this part of the world, time moves slower than rest... Choose bussiness floor room, but one can imagine been less than average. Don't seek here luxury, other than a sheltered bed in blizzard winter. Otherwise is cozy, old equipment still fitted but all functional, with basic breakfast facilities at first floor and a more excuisite restaurant for dinner located... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2014 via mobile

I stayed at Merihovi for two nights at mid November 2014. The hotel was better than what I was prepared myself for. OK, a bit wear and tear somewhere, but nice and clean rooms, very friendly and service minded staff (in reception and restaurants) and stylish (although old fashioned) appearance. Helpful staff at reception - no problem arriving early and... More

Stayed here for 1 night stop-over on our way south. Arriving late - the staff in the reception gave us very good service. The hotels exterior is a little bit dated - but our room, 509, looked new and was spacious and clean. The bathroom was small - the bathtub is TINY! Free Wifi in all rooms. The hotel is... More

Hotel Merihovi has seen better days The hotel is very old fashioned and perhaps could do with a makeover. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and the room was clean. There was also a very good buffet breakfast included in the room rate. The rooms were dated however with very heavy old furniture and very tired fittings.... More

The hotel premises are nice, the interior is based on old-fashioned style. The english style breakfast was ok, nothing superb but good standard enough. Room styles are from 1950's -1960's and in my case, I like that style a lot.

I stayed at the Hotel Merihvoi from March 18 - March 22, 2014. It was a short easy walk from the rail station with my 22" roller bag. My room on the 4th floor was large and comfortable with a mini bar and facilities to make tea or coffee. The front desk staff was very helpful and answered any and... More

Location is good - 10 minute walking distance from the railway station. Friendly staff. There is an elevator in the hotel, but at least when staying on second floor, be prepared to carry your luggage through a few steps, hard-to-keep-open doors. The furnishing and decor is a bit dated - while it could be part of the style or "character"... More

It`s a simple rather bland hotel but it has it pluses - like quite a good restaurant with good Italian wine ( Ripasso -Valpolicella 2010 ,Zenato) ,a supermarket just across the street and the Snow castle -around 800 meters away

Merihovi has a character of the good old days. I guess it's quite exceptional what comes to reasonable priced hotels in Finland. Breakfast was excellent and beds were comfy. Down stairs there is nice bar called Ankkuri. If you are afraid of getting bored, you can go there to listen live music (weekends). I've been there twice (summer 2013, december... More
