I had an excellent stay at Greenstar Hotel Joensuu. Big TV screen, nice bed, clean room, it's cool. Only breakfast cood be a little bit more fancy. Nice staff. more
Having read the previous review, I made sure we got there around 3pm in case of any difficulty. Sure enough, that is just what happened. The pleasant girl at reception checked us in and explained that we needed a chipped credit card to check in automatically. This would have been nice to know before arriving !! So thanks Laurie... The Greenstar hotel is in the heart of downtown Joensuu. The train station isn't close by, but it is a walkable distance--around 3/4 of a mile? The sidewalks of Joensuu in the winter are snow covered, with a layer of very coarse gravel thrown on top--so was difficult to pull our wheeled suitcases through it.
