The room was what you would normally expect but the air-conditioning didn't appear to be working over the v.hot weekend we were there( 31-33 degrees) and the windows in our room did not open v .wide. This hotel is not the best choice in Gothenburg. The view from a small budget-look-alike room was right at some wall in front, location not far from but still not romantic at all. The hotel was under renovation. The rooms were already done, but some areas were still under work. I don't know if it was because of the undergoing renovation, but in the corridors there was a weird smell. Fortunately, it didn't come into the rooms. The room was quite small. This is a great little hotel. We arived late with the ferry from Denmark. It's just a few metres from the ferryport - very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions for sightseeing. Breakfast is great and lots of choice (don't miss the waffles!!!). Parking is free in a secure locked carpark under the hotel.... more

The rooms are a bit small, so are the beds - if you choose a double sized bed - which isn't very double at all. It is actually a room for one, but they put two there. (One towel, one pillow - but you can easily get two - but you have to ask, even though you book for two).... more

I stayed at the Spar Hotel Majorna for two nights during a short break in Gothenburg in August 2006. At approx. USD80 per night the hotel is good value for Sweden.
