I stayed at the Scandic Swania for 3 nights. Although the rooms are a very old and outdated, rest of the hotel is great. Friendly staff, great breakfast and nice amenities. I think the location is excellent, considering that it is in the middle of so many attractions. When in Trollhättan next, I will stay again.
This is an ordinary hotel, but depending on the room you can get really great views. The hotel is located next to a canal with sluice/floodgates so you might have large ships passing just outside your hotel room! Besides that, it's just a plain Scandic hotel, in the central part of the small town Trollhättan. I would definitely stay here...

Typically Scandic-ish hotel, large dining area, nice breakfast. Paid parking across the street. Central location.
This is a really worn down hotel room. My room smelled of cigarette smoke and had stains on the floor and furniture that I don't want to know where they came from. Even the towels smelled bad (and was thin and small). Got a room where the head side of the bed was next to the elevator shaft which made...

Parts of the hotel have not been refurbished since the 90's. Very worn down. Major parts of the rooms close to restaurant with loud music keeping you awake all night long!
This feels like an older hotel - the decor is 70s/80s (our room still had built-in radio by the bed) but it's clean and well-maintained, with friendly staff. The hotel was quiet, except on Saturday night/Sunday morning, when the breakfast room was overloaded.
You can park for free on the street right outside subject to space (and if you move...

Scandic hotels are usually basic but ok. But Scandic Swania takes the hotel business to a new dimension by locating a large number of Polish workers seemingly more or less permanently in its property.
I have nothing against Poles, but spending a weekend with my wife among a large number of seemingly bored Polish male workers (could it be the...

This was a short, though rather pleasant stay at the Swania. The room (5th floor), even though smallish, was in a nice, retro Scandinavian style. The bed was small (a single), but I has a good sleep. Bathroom was old-fashioned. I did try neither the sauna nor the pool. Breakfast was good, with a nice choice of Wasa knäckebröd.
I stayed overnight in Trollhattan, as it was midway to my next major stop and the waterfalls attraction (3pm Saturdays) was worth catching. Apart from the locks area, the town doesn't offer a lot though.
The hotel is well located and easy to find. The building has several wings and can be quite confusing. My room faced the street in...
