The Uppsala hostel (Vandrarhem in Swedish) had the typical opening hours of only around supper time which is so typical of Swedish hostels. It was nice and clean and our double room was certainly adequate and the place had the usual kitchen and tv room. But the place had no soul. Once you were in (you had to pass three gates with the right gate opening passcode numbers) it seemed like just a place to crash. But it is located right in the middle of town and only two blocks or so from the train station and buses, in the midst of loads of restaurants and stores, and a short walk to the university area. It might have been just bad luck but the showers seemed to be out of order save for one.
