On our 1st trip to Stockholm we booked the Gustav Vasa strictly for the modest price in a city noted for expensive hotels. It was modest in looks as well, with mismatched furniture, old wooden floors and a forgettable breakfast. When we planned our 2nd trip, 5 years later, we were amazed at how much higher in price the average... More

I have stayed here a few times during the past year and seen the hotel change its face. It´s now a modern, but still with its oldfashioned atmosphere. No luxury, but prize worthy. Situated near Odenplan ca 5 min from city center and with metro near.

Generally, It's quite a livable facility and much depends perhaps on the type of the room. The one I stayed in was unusually narrow, corridor-like chamber, so watching TV from the bed at some angle was a little bit unnatural experience as compared to standard-sized room. But all in all, it's fine for an ordinary traveller.

Hotel was in reconstruction during my stay, so little uncomfortable... small room and very small place for clothes, nice bathroom... good reception, no problem with internet connection, fine breakfasts, but little monotonous... good place - only 30 meters to supermarket and subway entry

The hotel has a new name. It is Ibis Style hotel now. Not only the hotel is small but the rooms to. So if you need a dance floor next to your bed it is not your place. But how cares about the size of the room if the bed is perfect? + Very good bed, Good location, Tunnelbana (metro)... More

There were quite a few emails exchanged with the hotel throughout the months previous to our arrival due to an extra bed for our room. The staff replying was always very nice and helpful, but never, in any of the emails, have they mentioned the construction works taking place (according to previous reviews, taking place since 2010). Noises of drills... More

First of all there is a renovation in the hotel. And there was no information about it anywhere. Building materials have been made through main entrance. We have booked for two twin rooms (the first one for me and my mother and second one one is for my grandmothers). We arrived a bit early, otherwise we were lucky and one... More

The hotel is very well situated. Close to the city center across from the Vasakyrken, and with the Odenplan Tunnelban station just around the corner. It is comfortable and good value for the money, but the rooms (mine at least) was quite small. I would have liked a chair and a desk to sit and do a little work, but... More

Staying in Vasastan

Neighborhood Profile
Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
