The Red boat hotel is completely adequate for it's description on it's page. So don't expect lagre rooms and beds, don't expect too much service, don't expect perfect beds, matrasses and pillows. If you are on a budget and need a place within the walking distanse to Gamla Stan (the old center) - go to the Red boat with no... More

I stayed here with a friend on the white boat next to the red boat, we had a tiny cabin room which was great fun. If you can't rough it a little you should not stay here. We had a great view across the water from our port hole. There was shared washing facilities upstairs and a large communal area... More

We stayed 3 nights at this place and everything was perfect. Warm place with very helpful staff. We arrived in the morning, before check-in, so it was possible to drop our stuff in order to not wander with backpacks. Also it is located close to tourist attractions, like 10mins walking distance from Gamlastan and it's even close to Slussen. It's only... More

Nice place for a stopover, not a very appealing bathroom or menue for that matter. Comfortable enough for one night, close to some nice places and pubs. Nice view from room overlooking central stockholm

Stayed here for 2 nights. Arriving late on the Friday night - we had no problems finding it or getting into our room. We stayed in the 4 dorm room, it was a bit cosy/tight, but as long as you go in with that in mind, it is fine. The beds were fine (a bit sketchy getting up on the... More

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel room and 1 night in a hostel room (because the hotel room wasn't available, so I chose not to relocate) Overall friendly staff, nice location, good views (although quite far from the train line, but relatively near to metro) Points of criticism - toilet leaked (but the desk staff did have a look and... Very nice hostel on a boat, the lodges are humble and basic, the staff is very nice. Setting of the boat is excellent, very close to Gamla Stan, the old city centre. The only problem might be that is is not convenient for people with mobility problems. The light wobbling of the boat makes the experience complete. Recommended.

My friend had a nice experience there, I had not. I was excited with the idea of sleeping on a boat, but sleeping was the least I did. First, there are 2 boats: the red one (were the reception/restaurant is, and the white boat, just with rooms. My room was on the white boat, in the "basement". I had a... More

I stayed here for six nights for my recent vacation. I chose it because I thought it would be fun to stay on a boat, and the rates are very reasonable in this expensive city. The Red Boat has both private rooms and hostel rooms; I booked a private room. It was small, which I of course expected it to... More

brilliant staff, humble lodgings, but its a hostel so what do you expect? :) already planning on going back. The view of the palace across the water at night is worth it alone. Very centralised, 5min walk from old town.

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighborhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
