This is a great hostel because of its location near the city center but as well close to a nice forested area that is great for running, walking, hiking, etc. What was really cool about it is that it is an old prison and part museum! Kind of creepy but unique. What I wanted to highlight is the staff. I... More

This is actually a historic place, since it used to be a prison, and exciting to stay over at. It is quite an experience to look around and also to sleep in one of the cells. As a hostel, it was generally clean and comfortable. So were my cell and bed, too. However, fresh air was a bit of a... More

I was staying at this hostel for two nights. At first, it was a bit hard to find, but honestly, I haven't checked the directions before. After knowing the directions, it takes you about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the nearest metro station (good to know: the bus from the airport (Flygbussna) is stopping at that station, so... More

Awesome place to stay just outside of Stockholm, but great transport links. Fantastic stay in a prison and the rooms were great fun, we went out of season meaning to restaurant wasn't open which was a bit of a shame but the breakfast was still good. Fantastic experience

I stayed in one of the former cells that is now a private room with en suite bathroom. The room and bathroom are tiny, but you're only sleeping there anyway, so that works fine. The whole place was clean and fairly quiet and the staff was nice. The location is very pretty. It was too rainy for me to check... More

Interesting place with all the prison story. Great breakfast, highly recommend. Room is extremely small given it's a prison cell. And it could be very noisy at night when people go back to their 'cells', and people walking outside, and my friends were waken up by the crazy birds at 3am for two nights! A bit far away from metro.

for a hostel, very good. it is run by a bunch of kids who seem to be the best teacher's pets i have ever seen. Very harsh on the rules but never telling you where your room is when you arrive or asking if you need help when you are struggling with your luggage. Service? none. Good for the students... More

This hostel is super interesting! It's located at an old prison in Stockholm, there's a kitchen, a restaurant, and a gift shop. My friend and I were there for four days in December. The staff were super helpful and nice. You can do laundry there and get a box in the fridge for your groceries. Hemköp is about 15 minutes... More

You walk into Langholmen Hostel and might be a bit apprehensive, but once you take a walk around and look in your room, you realize what a spectacular job was done in the transformation of this place into somewhere that is comfortable to stay for a few nights. The rooms are small, but still with plenty of room for two... More

Staying in Hornstull & Langholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Hornstull & Langholmen
If you love having a drink by the sea right on the beach (and who doesn’t?) Hornstull & Långholmen should be on top of your list. The area was recently redeveloped and now not only offers artsy bars and edgy restaurants but also a post-modern shopping mall complex for urban retail therapy. Hornstull belongs to the more established and sophisticated neighborhoods in Stockholm and is the typical place where you’ll find Swedish dads meeting for a latte during their paternal leave, or where local office workers meet up at the art cinema for a drink or a movie after work. The beaches in Hornstull and Långholmen are popular destinations for barbeques and sunbathing during the summer. Bring sunscreen.
