OK, this is a budget hotel and no getting away from that but I wanted a change from the corporate hotel of the previous 5 nights. Rooms are extremely simple and its main appeal apart from price is the location, right in Gamla Stan overlooking the water. The rooms don't have TV but the communal areas such as kitchen, IT... A hostel in the old town island, with many famous sights and restaurants nearby, and very convenient to get access to any other place. Wifi is very strong , and the front desk clerks are friendly and helpful. I would like to go back again.

Stayed there just for 2 days - perfect location in the Center of Stockholm (Gamla Stan), for reasonable price. The minuses : address was difficult to find when arriving late, the room was clean but rather small and spartian, with shared bathroom - reminded me of hostels, which probably explains the price. But overall satisfying experience because I didn't spend... More

Please note that this place used to be a hostel. So many of the rooms (if not all?) have shared bathrooms in the hallway. Everything is kept very clean and the rooms are made up daily. We loved our stay here - the hotel is smack in the middle of Gamla Stan, just the perfect location. It was so easy... More

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in November. The price really attracted us as well as the location. There are several big rooms with the beautiful view, most of the rooms with the view on the neighbor house or even at the wall. First we got room with the wall outside it was really small and dark. We... More

I thought my last night in Stockholm would be in the airport so that I can sleep late then take the morning flight but for whatever reasons, hotels around airport are all full, as were those around train station... So I stayed here for one night, and that was by far the most terrible experience. Location is rather good. Bus... More

We got bed bugs. Dont stay here. The staff knows the problem, but havn't done anything about it yet. At least they have not done enough and obviously need to take it more serious. Check the bed and walls very well before you stay there if you have already booked.

Excellent location - first of all. It`s a mix between hotel and hostel. Shared bathrooms are wide spread across facility. You might get a bit confused of how to enter certain floors - some may be reached from the alley as well. Staff is nice and helpful. A lot of places to dine in the area. Swedes are like northern... Very friendly, warm and helpful hotel staff and the hotel felt very welcoming. The kitchen and sitting area is very cozy and gives a homely feeling. Other guests too seemed very friendly and willing to have a nice chat. The location was great as it is very near the cruise station, the royal palace and is in the heart of... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
